Sean B: This is a great book that is in fact packed with information. It's technical in many places however it never gets too advanced like you're in University or something. Chris manages to convey complex material in an easier to understand format. There are hundreds of pages and it's not a book you will read through too quickly. For me some of the most useful information was related to the Blue Bowl (Cyclonic Separation), and Sluicing. There are MANY more subjects that are covered.
If somehow you didn't realize that Chris is also a YouTuber then definitely search his name and catch some of his latest videos. He's fun and informative. His videos cover of course gold and gold geology but also subjects such as Diamonds, Platinum Nuggets, Dangerous Minerals, GemStones, and a slew of other interesting tidbits he has gathered throughout his career. So if you don't already watch his videos definitely check him out.

Buying Stuff Since 1999: This book contains all the information you need from a very experienced prospector to go out and look for gold. The information is U.S. oriented and contains a lot of rgaphics to help you understand the geology of gold placers and ore prospection and mining.
The author did a very good job at explaining what to look for, what tools to use, how to use and build your tools, etc.
Overall this is a really great investment to learn how to prospect for gold.

Joe HJoe H: I just got this book and wow... Just wow! I live in Gold rich areas and found Chris, like many, the3ough Youtube. I decided instead of getting one of the other books Chris and other prospectors recomended, to start with this book. I am so happy I did! This is definitely a THE BOOK to get. Whether you are brand new to Gold or experienced, you should benefit from this book.
I am not very experienced, but I have been recovered small Gold. Chris's writing style and teaching style really is like nothing else. I'm a smart guy, but learning is a challenge for me. This book is perfectly illustrated, with relative pictures and personal stories that keep the subject interesting, and very informative.
I was worried about not having colored images as many have complained about. I almost didn't buy. How can I learn rocks without color? However once receiving the book, I realize that this is not an issue. The pictures seem to enhance every paragraph as you go along. The broader understanding comes in and is better than any color picture. It's not just a good Gold book, it's a good book in general!
Well written, well spoken, I really appreciate the time taken to hammer in...
