THA D IN A-TOWNTHA D IN A-TOWN: This showed up on my Daily Deals feed since my Gen4 is in my Amazon Garage; and I love my Gen4 so I got it as well as the Chilton. I try to have paper and ink wiring diagrams of my vehicles for when there isn't internet access. Besides, they look good in the ManCave.
I got both books used for the cost of one new. "Condition: Used - Good - This Book is in Good Condition. Used Copy With Light Amount of Wear. 100% Guaranteed." This seller, like almost all online book sellers, under-promises and over delivers. It looked like someone had thumbed through it once or twice and that was it. No brake dust, no grease, no mustard or ketchup. The pages have yellowed, but it is printed on pulp paper which does that over time and is to be expected. Arrived in a timely manner. Seller gets five stars.
The deeper you get into a specific vehicle, the more you notice the gaps in both Haynes and Chilton. They both help you tinker, but are not the factory service manuals, and are not the tribal wisdom of the forums such as FirebirdNation. Some examples:

Cali: J'ai une Pontiac Firebird de 94, et j'appellerai ce bouquin la bible de la Pontiac (ou Camaro). Une mine d'informations claires pour pouvoir chercher les pannes soit même, il m'aura déjà bien aidé ! Quelques connaissances de la langue de Shakespeare sont requise pour la lecture de cette revue, mais pour ceux qui ne maîtrisent pas, il y a quand même des photos et des dessins.
Cette revue est conforme à mes attentes, et une précieuse aide pour la recherche de panne ou défauts.

Johnnie Danger: My dad told me that every time I buy a vehicle I should get the Haynes for it. These manuals are so detailed and you can do just about everything in it providing you have the equipment to do it with. It also has interesting information about what the vehicle came with and all the specs. I've never heard anyone say that buying one of these was a mistake.
