D.B. KrackerD.B. Kracker: I've got multiple smoker boxes and this one is stamped sheet metal with a hinged lid. The "V-design" fits between the flavorizor bars on my Webber gas grill and hangs low enough to the flame tubes to start smoking quickly. I found out it's best to use wet/soaked wood chips and not dry grill pellets because the pellets will ignite into a full-on fire too quickly. This is an OK smoker box for gas grills with Webber style flavorizor bars. Smoke'm if You Gott'm ! Happy Grill'n DB

Bazcurran: The angles allow it to sit between the burners on my Landmann grill, although its not a perfect fit. The unit helps provide the smoke effect when cooking meats. It can be difficult to regulate the temperature of the wood chips in the box and to damp them down with water when they flame up. Which can cause burning/ excess charring on the meat.

Christian Godfroid: Ich habe mir diese Räucherbox gekauft nachdem ich sie durch Zufall bei Amazon entdeckt habe. Eigentlich wollte ich eine original Weber Räucherbox kaufen, passend zu meinem Spirit E320 Gasgrill, leider war diese aber nie vorrätig.
Nachdem ich diese gesehen hatte war sie sofort in meinem Warenkorb gelandet und 3 Tage später hielt ich sie in Händen.
Bis da habe ich mir immer mit Alufolie geholfen zum Räuchern und ich war sehr positiv überrascht wie viel besser es mit dieser Box klappt. Die gewässerten Holzchips haben sofort angefangen zu brutzeln und kurze Zeit später war der Grill dicht mit Rauch gefüllt. Super Ergebnis.
Auch die Reinigung ging problemlos, die verkohlten Chips wegschmeissen, kurz mit Wasser und Seife abwaschen und trocknen lassen.

Stewart Airey: Fits nicely on top of the flavouriser bars (Weber gas grills). With the burners turned on low, it starts producing smoke after 20 mins or so, rather than bursting into flame if used on a burner on high heat (i don't bother soaking the wood as I don't find it makes much difference). As such, it does what it is supposed to, but with the design of gas grills, most of the smoke escapes so it has minimal actual effect on any of the food (unless you place the food directly over the box and invert a foil container over the food to capture and hold the smoke). Note that it'd be better to buy wood chunks and cut them to fit in it than use the teeny tiny chips that are sold for this sort of box. That way it'll produce smoke for a while longer.

J. Moore: This thing works perfectly. It is made of metal and is not stainless steel so a light coat of oil on occasion will keep it from rusting or maybe you should consider storing it indoors if your grill is prone to moisture. Mine still looks fine. I use it on a Weber Genesis S330. I am surprised this smoker has anything less than 4 star reviews. It performs exactly as it should and give a great smoke flavor to my ribs and pork butt which is what I mainly use it for.

A few tips for gas grill use. You'll notice many gas grills have openings on the side to attach a rotisserie. Take some foil and close up those holes to keep the smoke in. I also take a long strip of foil and run it along the back edge of my grill to close up the opening where the lid meets the box.
Don't worry it's perfectly safe to do this considering that smoking is a low temperature cooking method. It would be very bad to do this at high temps but it is fine for smoking and helps keep the smoke in.

Someone in another review complained that they had to remove both grates to refill the smoker box. I don't understand why. I leave the grate off the left side, put the smoker box between the first and second...

hickchick67: while this wont give the performance of a specialized smoker, it does add a slight smokey flavor to grilled foods. it fits perfectly in grill. the only thing is the large version is just a tad wider than a single grate, so dont expect to just lift a grate and drop it in. you wont be able to open its lid if you dont lift both grates either. so as long as you realize that you will have to either lift both grates or tilt it to get it into or out of the grill, you will be fine. i dont see that as a problem myself. it is still much easier to work with than the annoying cast iron box thing i had before. this fits right on the burner and heats up the wood chips quickly and easily.

so far this has performed well. i soak wood chips in water, fill the box, and drop it in the grill before i light it up. it doesnt take long for that delicious smoky aroma wafts around the neighborhood. its worked well on all settings from low to high. i have no issues with any warping or twisting.

i had taken it out & emptied it while cleaning the grill one day and forgot that i did. it was out in the rain for a couple days. that created some surface rust on the interior but nothing that i am...

Chick a Chick: In principal, this is a great product. However, keep in mind it is made for a very specific type of grill. In other words, look the inside of your BBQ and make sure this is good for yours. Then, remove one of the grill tops and measure from the side to middle. Check the size on this listing, if it is too long, get the shorter one. Trust me on this. Go measure it now. Measure it even if you are just thinking about buying this!

As you might have guesses, I bought the long one when I should have bought the shorter one. Why? Because I guesstimated. I guessed my grill was fairly big, and so I guessed the longer one made sense. It didn't. If you buy one that is too long, you will not be able to refill the smoker box. At least, not in any neat and safe way.

Also, my grill would likely be better suited to a square box since the V's are not as deep as this box is, and so, the V-shaped box leans over to one side a bit. Not impossible to work with, but just something to note.

So, in conclusion, check your BBQ first, before you buy this or any other BBQ tool. Maybe that is obvious to most people, but just do it! :)
