Precio fabuloso. Buena compra. Muele muy bien.

Don Hic: The upper and bottom portions of the grinder are very well made - the fact that it is partly glass, comes with an extra container, and rubber non-slip feet are great.

However the mechanics for the grinder feel cheap. The fineness of the grind is controlled by both screwing the head up for a finer grind, as well as a spring. When you grind it, you are able to hear the spring turning and it feels cheap, and often leads to a less-fine than you expected grind because of the spring. You can't operate this without the spring however!

Additionally, the handle of the crank doesn't have a good grip on the grind shaft. Meaning, if you accidentally put the grinder upside down, the handle will fall out.

Michael Pulliam: For the price, this is a fantastic little grinder. I can recommend it for a few uses:
1: Finding out if you like fresh ground coffee.
2: Finding out if you like the process of manually grinding coffee before buying something a bit more upmarket.
3: Grinding spices.

A big problem with this grinder is that the moving burr weeble-wobbles around in the holder as you grind, so you end up with inconsistant grind sizes and if you're grinding coffee that leads to some bits being over-extracted and some under-extracted which could lead to undesireable flavors developing. Its consistancy might be good enough for cold brew, but I haven't yet made a batch.

Some good things about it is that the kit comes with a second jar and a lid, can be completely disassembled for cleaning, feels quite sturdy, the ergonomics are fairly good and it's super cheap.

If you already know you like hand grinding coffee, I recommend that you start with something a bit more posh than this, but if you're not sure, this is a pretty cheap way to find out.

Samia L. Hollinger: This manual grinder works like a champ! I really like that the bottom part is glass, not plastic as this reduces static, and that it comes with a spare with a lid. The burr grinder is the way to go always and this grinder evenly grinds beans. I am using this for travel, so typically I'm making 1 or 2 cups at a time. I did not experience long grinding times. It took maybe 3 minutes to grind enough for a strong cup; I'm unsure why the other reviews mentioned long grind times. If you are looking for a reasonably priced grinder, you have found it.

I've gotta' say, 3 years on this is still a terrific little grinder.

Edit after extended use: another positive aspect to this grinder is the hourglass shape. This eases stress on your hand holding the grinder while grinding; it is a small detail with a big result. Again, I would highly recommend this product.

Scholar57: I've been grinding my coffee beans for over a year now, and I know a good grinder makes a big difference. I've used a few in the past: two manual grinders and even a large electric grinder. All of them work reasonably well, but they come with some downsides. The manual grinders were thin and tricky to clean, not to mention it could take as many as TEN MINUTES to fully grind 26 grams of beans, and that's if you don't stop grinding from start to finish. As for the electric grinder, it was LOUD and I had to shake it in order to stop the last few beans from jumping around as the grinder finished.

So I chose to buy a new grinder and came across this one, and it proved to work EXCELLENTLY!

First of all, I love how it looks. Its chamber and jars (you get two) allow you to see the beans as they are grounded and crushed.

Next, it grinds quietly and without the need for electricity. So you if you have anyone sleeping or working, you won't disturb them as you brew your coffee.

And perhaps most impressive of all, this grinder works at an amazingly fast rate. The grinding chamber is large and the beans aren't cramped for space, allowing for...

Mrs Raven: So I have had this for a while and like it very much. I have a large moka pot and it takes me about 7-10 minutes to grind the amount of beans needed. That's about filling the top of the grinder twice, but the result is a dry velvety grind that makes excellent espresso. I have to experiment with the grind a bit. It would grind down to a turkish coffee grind if needed. The top has vanes in it to keep the coffee beans in place so every turn is effective. It is not hard to grind, but finer grinds will take longer. The "bumper" on the bottom keeps it in place doing grinding and I have never had the handle come off while grinding....just make sure it is well-seated before starting. You do have to hold it during grinding, of course; I have small hands and the diameter allows me to hold it securely. I noticed that my hand would get tired, but I found I could hold it with less force...I was basically working like I was trying to wrestle a wooly mammoth. So there is a learning curve, but really, just let it do the work of grinding. I am very happy with my purchase.
