Zolaroo: This book has definitely made me take a long hard look at my drinking and the Drinkless app has been a revelation, I really didn’t realise how many units I was putting away each week! I’m cutting down and think another read if this book will help me keep on track. I’d love to think I could go full on sober and this book does make it seem possible!

Victoria: Newly sober, and related more than I’d like to admit. Well worth the read.

ILoveMath: I highly recommend this book for anyone who is looking to decrease or eliminate their alcohol consumption. Catherine is vulnerable, honest, and transparent. Her writing feels like talking to a friend (with a bit of science and data thrown in). At no point did I feel shame or judgement. The sections of the book are broken up into short stories and pieces, so it can be read quickly and digested without a large time investment. I highly recommend.

Amazon Customer: Really liked the author’s way of reframing singlehood as just as wonderful and viable and option as being coupled. She doesn’t play up singlehood as if it’s something worlds better than being in a relationship, but she also doesn’t make it seem as if we just have to “wait” until we find the one. Instead, she opens her heart to the readers about her own struggles with addiction, love, and relationships, breaks down our preconceived notions around singlehood in a society that encourages couplehood, and doesn’t try to sell the reader on BS tips for being ok with singlehood just until you meet someone. Instead, she embraces the joys and tribulations that come with singlehood and reminds us to find joy and meaning in our own selves.

Amazon Customer: Some very inciteful information and usellfull advice ut I do thing far to many pages are filled with blank pages for the reader to complete. Whilst I don't disagree with the sentiment, the reality is that 50% of the book is empty

Tara: So glad I read this! It helped me stay strong as I read it on my first sober cruise. I’m sober curious and never thought I would be able to do this and your book kept me going and it’s been a week on the cruise.. I made it! I’m 90+ days sober and just don’t want to stop. It’s not worth it!! Thank you for sharing your story.
I’m out of the matrix and I’ve seen too much to go back.

sophiel: Over the last 6 years or so, I have found myself slowly and slowly drinking more and more - it's crept up on me. I find myself drinking every day - sometimes even when I don't want it. I loved this book because it displayed the facts and was non judgemental. It made me understand why I have the relationship to alcohol that I do - it made me be kinder on myself, at the same time giving me the tools and knowledge to help myself out of the cycle of waking up, feeling rubbish, then drink and repeat. It has given me the confidence to say "no I am not drinking" without worrying about the judgement of it. This book really helped my journey with alcohol and I do recommend it - but please keep an open mind.

AundreaAundrea: I have been dealing with some degree of problematic drinking for years. I don't drink often, but when I do it's all out. About 3 years ago I knew this was escalating and could become a bigger problem. We had moved to a lake house where the vibe is "party all day every day". I've always been an avid fitness enthusiast, enjoyed healthy eating and spending time with my family. Drinking heavily doesn't work with those values.

Anyway, I started seeking resources to help me try to change my drinking, or quit drinking. I bought this book about about 6 others in a short period of time and read them all. This was by far my favorite. Catherine adds a humorous twist to her writing style that makes it easy to read and feels like a friend is telling you a story. There are plenty of personal anecdotes and lots of great practical advice ("30 tools for the first 30 days" is my favorite). She also makes me excited to not drink. It's not this change to dread, it's a choice that leads to so much happiness and goodness. She actually gets me excited to not drink. I use this book for fuel when I am feeling tempted.

I have not reached my 100% long term goal of not drinking at all, but I...

Just me: What a great book. Ironically the day this book arrived two bottles of champagne also arrived at my door, “ what the hell am I doing? “ I questioned!!! I bought this book because I’m finding myself more and more less productive when drinking. I drink regularly (small amounts) and just became curious as to what life would be like sober and I’m so glad that I did. There was a period in my life that I had in fact stopped drinking that I had totally forgot about. Reason being because I was training for a marathon and at the time I didn’t think of it as being sober but rather as disciplined training. Those 6 months were just as she describes it here in the book. Everything just seems clearer and more colourful and at that time in my life I had a lot of self love and appreciation for my body and my life. I hope to get back there.

This book is a well written eye opener. What I love is that it spikes a lot of critical thinking. While I’d always like to think that I treat people with kindness and consideration It’s made me aware not to ask non drinkers inappropriate questions or make judgments based on our drink culture conditioning, instead I will have more of an...
