onlinepurchase: My son’s reading teacher gave him a Captain Underpants book to read in second grade. This began his lifelong love of reading. I have given this book and the second book in the series to my grandnephew. When he got the second book, he exclaimed, “Just what I always wanted!”

HedgesFC: Great kids series of books...I read them with my 6yr old grandson. We both laugh out loud at all of them. This was just the latest one we got. 😄

Rebecca Thomas: I disliked that the words were mixed up on the Kindle version but the story was great and it was really funny. It was about a machine called Pasty 2000 that printed any picture to turn it into real life. It creates mutant toilets and the Captain Underpants, George and Harold defeat them with a huge robot plunger, created by Pasty 2000.

Amazon カスタマー: The story is great but the books was bent and tatty. Terrible condition, and it was a present so I was obviously disappointed.

Erica @ricci.reads: My 7yo loves these books - after owning the paperback box set in black and white for a few years we're upgrading to the full colour hardback editions book by book. He has the first 3 so far, all purchased from Amazon and we'll received - my only gripe is that books 1 & 3 are UK editions (with UK spelling), and this one, book 2, has US spelling, which doesn't bother me in itself, however it's also about a centimetre taller and also wider than the UK editions. Doesn't ruin my sons enjoyment, just worth noting if you are also building a collection and would like them all to match.

Jay: Our 4 year old son was already obsessed with potty humor, now at least he loves learning to read too.

Kanika Bhargava: Captain Underpants is not a book or a series of books: It is in fact an obsession! The books in general have three principal characters- George, Harold (two mischievous boys with new tricks up their sleeves daily!) and their headmaster Mr. Krupp who is mean yet the victim of the boys' pranks!

The books are targeted for young readers ( 6yrs+ ) , BUT a word of caution : They shouldn land in the hands of these kids! :P The humor and language of the text is definitely not suitable for such young readers as it can be impressionable on young minds. However, adults or teens will thoroughly enjoy the jokes and wise cracks. The books in general do not have a very intelligent plot, they are simple almost bordering on stupid at times but then that makes them one of a kind. The titles of these books are also interesting: they are too lengthy to be true( you could decipher half the plot)!

Verdict: Do buy at least one to have a day of laughs (laffs) ! I couldn stop laughing while reading this book, it was total nonsensical and I loved the idea behind these books.

Jackie-the-Greyhound: Bathroom humor, crazy antics and a comic strip included...he loves it!!

My son has been the so-called 'reluctant reader'-- mostly because he is extremely stubborn and likes to be 'opposite-boy'. On the one hand he wants to have everything and do everything like his big brother does. BUT, he needs it on his own terms, or has to do it with his own twist. (No Mama, I won't do Kung Fu, I want to do Karate).

So, I was faced with an 8 year old who would like to reject reading. Mom does it, Pop does it, and Brother does it. For fun. Even just a few months ago my youngest did not WANT to read. However, for homework (I love his teacher) he has to keep a reading log AND read EVERY NIGHT. With both home and school influences he really did read, but didn't enjoy himself.

Trying to find books that engage him has been tough. So much for the entire Magic Tree House series. Of course we own the whole series (well through about 2008 anyway), but that was his brother's thing to read, and my little one just won't pick them up unless forced, sigh.

I found the answer when I stumbled across a Harry the Horrible. This child of mine loves the rambunctious and smart types, even...
