Annie Hastings: My kids read these for hours and I love that. They crack up while reading, and really enjoy the stories and illustrations. I highly recommend these books for elementary readers.

MAS: Christmas present for grandson. He has already read every book but they were not in color. He wanted the complete set of Captain Underpants books in hardback and full color. He was very pleased.

Reviewer: So my 4 year old loves these books ever since we saw the movie in theaters. It's gotten him interested in reading and I haven't heard him laugh so much as this series of books. It's very clever and has some jokes for older kids and adults (nothing too crude), but my MIL wanted to read a few after reading these to my oldest son. Just a heads up, since it's a chapter book, younger kids don't quite get the 'one more chapter... please!' doesn't work after you've read 5 chapters and they want to know what's going to happen.

seriousmama: Another winner from Mr. Pilkey! My son is on the autism spectrum and Captain underpants is his current love. He is all about the flip o ramas, and this particular story has more than enough for for his flipping pleasure. Just an fyi, if your kid loves flipping as much a mine, the paperback edition (which we got) may not stand up to the love as much as the hardback ones. We have a lot of hardback editions, but my guy bought this one with his own $, so he chose the cheaper edition. We have had to use a lot of tape on the flipping pages ( they all tear eventually if you flip as much as we do), but that is part of the fun.

David S: We love all the Day Pilkey Captain Underpants books, Super Diaper Baby, too. We have all the books in hardcover, and the odd thing is that books 5 and 8 while hardcover are from a different publisher, NOT Scholastic, but something called Paw Print, or some such. The dimensions of the book are smaller and the paper is newsprint instead of the nice glossy paper found in the Scholastic. I would love to have the complete Scholastic set. Wondering if anyone else had this experience? As for the books themselves: creative, inventive, lyrical, Pilkey truly is a master. Some folks may not like some of the language, I certainly don't enjoy saying "idiot" or "dumb". I understand it is part of the lexicon of young children, however I simply change the words to " silly" or leave them out altogether. Beyond that, I think they are marvelous. I am reading them to a 4 year old, not quite reading yet.
