Summary -
-This mat effectively captures liter that escapes the borderline of your litterbox.
- If you have a little cat like mine that tends to have accidents right outside of the box this mat becomes a real problem to clean.
- One thing to keep in mind is every cat has different or similar tendencies so while this particular mat didn't work well for me I'm sure it works well for many animal households.
- the higher rating is because this is a solid product that might work great for you

Pros:
- Durable and well made with strong materials
- The design allows for capture of escaping liter from your box
- In some cases this mat would be easily cleaned
- the material the mat is made out of is water resistant

Cons:
- if accidents occurs on the mat itself cleaning becomes much more egregious
- if you animal tends to kick clumps of liter out of the box, cleaning again can become dreadful

Lady Gray: Out cat, Bounce, is almost 19 and we have tried a few mats over the years. Hands down, this is the quickest and easiest mat to clean cat life. The pick it up and pour out. The holes are high enough that the litter easily brushed off cats paws and will never touch your feet.

Heidi78Heidi78: I have a smaller version of this litter rug, and it works great, but the cats tend to rush out of the box and litter flings further than where the rug covers. This one covers a good amount of space. One of the better rugs i've tried. This style really does allow litter to fall down into the little openings, out of the way, and wont be stepped on or kicked around any further. It stays there till you dump it out. The only downside really is that with the larger mat, it's harder to dump it as accurately right over the litter box. I think partly because it's still new. It came folded, so some of the folds are still getting worn in and flattened. That makes it harder to bend it in the center and pour, so eventually it should get easier. (And the litter box is under the counter, so there's limited space to move.) I think it could have a better non slip backing, because it does slide around a bit on the hard floor. But it is easy to wipe clean or wash if need be. The top grid is a bit squishy like foam of some sort. Not hard to stand on, or uncomfortable at all. And i don't have to walk over the little sharp litter rocks anymore. It catches most of them in the mat and they don't get...

Scot A. Rogers: Looks like a well made product. It may well work for most cats. But, our fellow did NOT like how it felt to step on. At all. So he peed on it. Several times. Yes, on the mat itself, not his box. He decided he could not get to his box because the mat turned the floor around the box into LAVA !!

I cleaned it, repositioned and put it back. Nope, nope, nope, don't like this! Peed on it a few more times. Not sure where he is getting all of this, by the way. Impressive amount over less than 24 hours of "Heck no! This has to go!"

So we will donate it to a shelter and wish them well.

By the way, the mat is not waterproof. So any liquid that hits the mat will get to the floor. It is designed to stop litter particles, not liquid. Just so you know not to use it to try and protect a wood floor. You'll need a different approach for that, maybe plastic or rubber in addition to this litter collector.
