MarloMarlo: The media could not be loaded.  I bought this one year ago for my son, but this soon became mine!
We used distilled water and prepped it with packet 1. The following day I emptied in the eggs, packet 2 into the little tank. Several days later we saw swimming specks. And that’s when we began to feed them on a weekly schedule. They grew quickly over the next couple weeks. We kept them near a window but never in direct sunlight, we never used a bubble wand or a little heater or light. Also algae never grew for some reason.

Majority of the little guys only lasted a month or two, we didn’t remove their bodies. Two of them outlived the others to about 4 or 5 months, it was cool watching them swimming around, sometimes attached to each other or what seem like chasing each other. It was a cold winter and I had believed that had an impact on their lifespan, HOWEVER, after the last two died, I placed the tank (still containing the dirty water and all the little decomposed dead bodies) in my kitchen window while I debated either buying more eggs or a whole new kit with new tank. Well, several weeks later I noticed algae growing and…new…babies!

Renee: Bought this as a coping mechanism for losing my beloved pet of 17 years. It gave me something to focus on. The nostalgia of having one from childhood was nice. It did much better this time around. Started with about 50+ lil guys, about 6 weeks in I’m down to 1 friend left! If the tank collapses completely I plan on starting over with a new set up to see if I can keep them going longer. For just what it is, it was so fun!

D. Jelte: The media could not be loaded.  My 8 year old recieved this as a gift. He was so excited, but when I looked at the package of eggs, it was damp and green and slimy... I was pretty sure it wasn't supposed to look like that considering the instructions say something about "pouring" in the package. I tried bracing my son for disappointment, but he insisted that they were going to work. I followed the directions precisely until it came to pouring in the 2nd packet... that I opened on 3 sides and dunked into the water until most of the green slime washed off into the water. Nothing happened for about a day. Then there were like 4 sea monkeys... 2 days later there was absolutely nothing moving in there again... I didn't want to crush my son's spirit, so we "fed" his "sleeping" sea monkeys before going out of town for a week. When we came back there was a handful of tiny sea monkeys. A couple days later, there are about double the number of sea monkeys swimming around. Apparently you just need the faith and patience of an 8 year old to grow these suckers... because I would have tossed them after a day of nothing growing.
