Matt: I love my Chemex. Debated and researched forever on the correct size. Ended up getting the 6-cup because my kettle is 1.2 liters. It takes about 0.2 liters to wet the filter, and the remaining 1 liter is the perfect amount for brewing enough to fit inside my 30 oz Yeti tumbler. I can't imagine doing a pour-over of more than the 6-cups the Chemex can hold.

Robert M.: Love it! To be honest it took some work figuring out the best ratio of coffee to water as well as how fine or course to grind my coffee beans. That said I enjoyed the learning process and once I figured it out, it makes great coffee! Purchased a gold filter also from Chemex in addition to a gooseneck kettle. The carafe makes about 6 cups of coffee and the gooseneck kettle holds 6 cup of water (and has a built in thermometer to let you know when the boil is at optimal temperature). Please note that the gooseneck kettle is essential to making quality pour over coffee- takes the guesswork out of how much water to boil and helps distribute the water evenly. I highly recommend the Chemex pour over carafe! Put my krurig away once I finished up the pods I had and enjoy a nice quality pour over.

J. Mcgowan: After watching at least 10 videos describing how make coffee using the Chemex drip method, I made the purchase. I bought the six cup version. If you follow the instructions given on the multitude of videos available on You Tube for this product, you can't go wrong. I highly recommend you also purchase a scale to use with this coffee mare as it will allow you to quantify exactly how much coffee and water you add. I bought the Hario V60. It works as advertised. Using the scale. I have been able to make adjustments to my ingredients, that are quantifiable and repeatable.
My coffee habit before I bought the Chemex was home brewing with a drip type automatic coffee maker ( Starbucks Barista) and my standard five shot "Pente Vente Americano" on Saturday and Sunday at the local Starbucks.
At home I have been brewing Ruta Maya Coffee Dark Roast, which I believe is roasted locally here in Austin, Texas.
Bottom line: after tweaking the 1) grind time, 2)grams of coffee, 3) grams of water and water temperature, I have come up with one of the best cups of coffee I have ever experienced. Comparing the Ruta Maya Dark Roast Automatic drip (which I used to think was good) with my Chemex...
