Anne D.: I was dreading having "the talk" with my 9 year old daughter, but she was making comments about sex that I, and only I, her mother, could address.
I bought this book because I wanted to have a meaningful, Christ-honoring discussion about the gift of sex and our bodies. This book was truly wonderful.
The scripted conversations included in each chapter were SO useful and actually fun. You may be thinking, scripts? How unoriginal and stale. But this was not the case for us. The scripts were a fun and warm way to indirectly address some sensitive topics, as well as basic human sexuality.
By the time we finished the book, my daughter and I had made some fond memories of her learning about some of life's most precious gifts in a safe and God-honoring environment. She feels more informed and I am relieved that she now has the right knowledge to look forward to future dating and hopefully a marital relationship!

A. Glance: I have all 4 books (The Story of Me, Before I Was Born, What's the Big Deal, and Facing the Facts) I have a 12, 10, and 5 year old. I have read books 1 & 2 to all 3 children. I gave my older child book 3 to read himself and will give him book 4 when I feel he is ready. I like knowing I am giving them the tools they need to live in this world. I looked through many books before deciding on this set. I am happy with these 4 books and recommend them if you are looking for information based on Christian beliefs.

Hao Zhang: Great book to equip the kids, easy to do sexual education at home than leave this to school which doesn't teach about moral.

leslie jane cannell: I absolutely love this! We read a chapter every so often after dinner. It's set up like a conversation between parents and 2 children. You pass the book around, reading their parts, etc. By the time you get to discussion questions, everyone's already used to talking about it, and there's so much more discussion and far less forced.

H. Nguyen: All the things you want to tell your child but don't know how!! The book is written in a dialogue form between a brother and sister and their parents. I read the parents' lines and my daughter read the children's lines. A lot of times I was cringing inside and grinding my teeth because it was difficult for me to read, but I glad the book wrote everything out for me! Highly recommended to any parent! I read this to my daughter when she was 9. My son, on the other hand, I probably will not read it to him until he is 11!

PJ: If you are a very blunt person I think this may be a good book, but it was not for me. Both me and my son found the approach to be embarrassing and too blunt. We could not finish the book because my son felt tortured by it. I think there`s a nicer way to approach this subject. I just shelved the book, let the subject drop for awhile and then came back with my own gentle approach and instincts. That way worked the best for us, and it`s the approach I will use for my other children.

South Island Kiwi: Very good, straight forward, straight talking book. Would highly recommend as a source for initiating discussions with your children. Also other books in the same series.

QQs mom: The God's Design for Sex series is medically accurate and current as of this writing. It presents a clear statement of the evangelical Biblical position on sex, puberty, STD's and other related social issues such as sexual abuse, prostitution and homosexuality. I recommend previewing the book to make sure that your child is ready for the content. Not all 8 year olds will have thought about or are ready to think about the questions that the children in this book are supposed to be asking (e.g. sex in movies, teenage pregnancy, other kids joking about sex, etc.). Also, if you are not a socially conservative evangelical, you may, as other reviewers have commented, find positions in this book (What's the Big Deal) that you do not agree with. In my opinion, however, the material presented is consistent with a literal interpretation of the Bible and is also stated in a non-judgmental way within that context. E.g., some of the quotes that other reviewers found objectionable as stated in their complete context:
"There are some Christian men and women who feel those feelings [like a homosexual] and choose to obey God by not having sex at all. This is how God wants all people who are not...

Tammy Willis: Even though this book stated it was for a younger age group, I got it for my 14 yr. old. We had our first talk about sex when he was 9. When he started asking questions, I simply answered them the best I could. I have always wanted my kids to feel free to ask me anything. In reading this series of books I hope I have more of the answers they need and deserve to hear. My son enjoyed this book and stated that it has given him ideas of how to handle peer pressure. I have went ahead & ordered the remaining books. I have children in all the age catagories, so I hope to offer them a better understanding of God's gift with the use of these books. Just wish I had learned of them years ago!

Daniela Dragan: The whole book is writen as questions and answers from the parents. I really liked the approach. Definitely for the age apropiate. It has some ideeas that sometimes you are not thinking of explaining it that way.
