Maya BeWell: Books by this teacher are a must for any serious practitioner.
Doing yoga vs. studying yoga is the difference between the yoga of the west and the east.
The section in this books abt. the ethics of the teacher
is what moved me most. the guru- shishya (teacher -student) relation is scared
in the East- and Donna F. adapt the tradition to accomodate
the environment of today.
Perhaps less of do/do nots, more of suggestions on how to be prepared
for the space of sharing and learning. Add it to your repertoire.

VK: Having read 2 of Donna's books already, I've come to deeply appreciate her frank & professional writing style - and this book is no exception. Donna addresses the complex reality of the student-teacher relationships & the lack of stable/established regulations in the Yoga industry. This book was published in 2006 and, sadly, I think we still haven't made much progress in that area.
Back to the book! Donna firmly established the need for professionalism on the part of Yoga teachers & reinforces how much power we have to help or harm our students. Mainly geared toward Yoga teachers, I find this book to be quite useful for Yoga students as well, giving them an inside view on what Yoga teachers experience. Even if I hadn't taken a Yoga teacher training program, as a Yoga student of 12 years, I found this book extremely useful from the student angle as well.
After a wide overview, Donna delves into the myriad of ethical issues Yoga teachers face on a regular basis, including money, class numbers, certifications, communication with students, boundaries, appropriate wardrobe, & much much more. Last but not least, she also includes some sample ethical...

Yogiwoman: I love Donna Farhi's books and this is just as good as her previous ones. As a yoga teacher there ARE many grey areas with relationships and sometimes it's hard to know what to do ethically. This book gives some helpful guidance and things to think about, She is thoughtful and wise, and this book is a real gift to the whole yoga community.

Bluespianist: Every time I read a book by Donna, I feel like there is nothing more to be said. She so thoroughly and comprehensively covers her topics that it is hard to imagine another sequel. And there is not. This book is not in the vein of her other books. She doesn't fall into the trap of rehashing the same topic again and again just to cash in on the ongoing yoga hype. Instead, she keeps her integrity and only publishes something new if she really has to say somthing new.
In this book she shares her insights about yoga topics that I have not read anywhere else. Very inspiring and motivating, not just for Yoga instructors, but to anyone in any kind of teaching profession. She explores the dynamics of teacher-student relationships, and comes up with recommended codes of behaviors that everybody - yoga or not - will benefit from.
