Whether you’re looking for the perfect gift or just a reliable electric kettle, the Bonavita BV382510V 1. Christopher Barrett: This is a fantastic kettle. Pours very well. Temperature control is precise, which is important for a good cup of coffee or tea. The temperature hold function is great. I wake up a half hour before my wife. I aeropress me a coffee. I set up all the things to make a second cup and then hit the hold button. Water is always ready for when she wakes up and I can immediately greet her with a cup.
Great tool for low effort relationship maintenance.

Dennis A. Schmidt: I’m a real coffee nerd. Buy green beans from all over the world. Roast my own beans, grind fresh for every cup. And of course must have the brewing water at 202 degrees! I have had one of these kettles for years. It finally went kaput, so I looked at what was out there and …. Rebought the same one again! It really works well. The narrow, long, curved spout allows precise pouring control. Plus it really looks cool!

M. Lawless: Overall, this was a good kettle used a couple times a day trouble-free for just over 5 years. Started turning on by itself around the 5 year mark and then turning both on and off (before it had fully heated) so it seems the power button developed issues over time. This was a decent deal when we originally bought it (at around $60) but it appears the price has since doubled so no longer worth it in my opinion.

Shelby: I'm only happy with this because I got it on Prime Day for basically forty percent off.
Pros: shows you what temperature it's at to the degree, and holds it within one or two degrees. It slows down the heating as it gets close so as not to overshoot. It holds heat fairly well. It doesn't beep, if that annoys you.
Cons: 1. The "60 minute" temperature hold is only 60 minutes from when you first power it on. Then, if you re-hit the Hold button after you've poured some water out, you will only get 7 minutes of temperature hold; at least, that's what the case is for TWO kettles in a row for me. People describe the need to hit the Hold button again after pouring as annoying, but I understand it is a good safety feature (and an easy habit to learn) so you don't set down an empty kettle and have it overheat. However, it IS an annoying thing if doing that only buys you 7 more minutes of temp hold. That's a little fast for even my slurpiest gongfu brewing session. Maybe it's supposed to be 60 minutes, but I have already gone through a product exchange with Amazon and BOTH kettles shut off 7 minutes after I hit Hold post-pouring (7 minutes is also the time the instruction...

Bruce M. Walker: Honestly, I was not expecting this kettle to have such a dramatic effect on my pour over coffee making as it has had. To say I am pleased with it is a huge understatement. My pour over coffee is better tasting than ever, with cup to cup consistency way improved.
The kettle is good looking and compact. It fits the hand well which is good for pouring. It's easy to use it avoiding getting burnt by any of the hot parts -- eg when removing the lid to drain it. It brings a full litre of water up to brewing temperature quickly, similarly to my previous kettles. The power cord is about the same length as my previous kettles too, so I can locate it on the counter where I like to have it.
Unusually, it's very quiet in operation. All kettles make sounds when heating water but this one is surprisingly discreet.
The builtin temperature set points are useful and include the standard one for coffee brewing, 205F / 96C. I appreciate that it can be readily tweaked to other temperatures hotter or cooler as well, unlike some competitors.
I really like that I can set the temperature to Hold so I can pre-heat the water I'm going to brew with while I putter around grinding...

J. Seyfert: When we got an AeroPress in July 2018, we realized we needed a convenient way to heat the water to a specific temperature, since you should not be using boiling water for your AeroPress. I reviewed a number of adjustable temp kettles before deciding on this one. Specifically, I was looking for one with an easy to set temp that also remembered the previous setpoint. This one fit the bill, and we bought it a week after we bought the AeroPress.
For over a year and a half, this has been cranking out hot water for us. Typically it is used twice each morning for coffee for my wife and I, who usually get up and moving at different times, and in the winter I use it considerably for making tea throughout the day.
Turns out, maintaining the previous setpoint wasn't all that useful after all (though it still is nice), since my wife and I have settled on different temps for making coffee in the Aeropress. What is useful is the quick temps. With one button, it cycles through preset temps of 140, 176, 185, 190, 205, and 208 °F (or equivalent °C if in °C mode), and we've ended up using this almost exclusively. I brew coffee with the 176 °F setting, my wife uses 185 °F. Since...

PT: *Update 03/10/2015*
I contacted the manufacturer, and was offered a replacement 1.0, or a replacement 1.7L kettle. They couldn't guarantee that another 1.0L wouldn't have the same problem (they stated that they are working on finding out why some of these kettles have this problem).
The new kettle arrived yesterday, and I have run it through 6 cycles, without a single problem. I really did like the 1.0L kettle, and it was more suited to the single cups of coffee that I usually brew (I use a pourover cone). If it weren't for this odd problem, I would have given the kettle 5 stars. Due to the quality issues, I can only give it 3 at the moment.
*Update 03/03/2015*
Replacement kettle arrived. No visible damage to the kettle. Alas, same problem with the "Hi Err" appearing every time the kettle gets to around 80C.
Now I'm trying to decide if I should: a) Just return the kettle for a refund, b) ask for yet another return, or c) try to submit a warranty claim with the manufacturer... At this moment in time, I'm leaning toward Option A...
*Update 02/26/2015*
While waiting for my replacement (see below), I've decided to test out this kettle,...

Giggles: This was good. It lasted 5 years and at 5 years I press the buttons to start it and nothing happens. The red lights still read the temp. Sometimes if you press the buttons alot you can still get it to heat water. But the "hold" setting is definitely no longer a working option. I'm not sure how I feel about it only working 5 years. I mean everything is impermanent, but maybe would like it to last longer than that for the price.
