I mix it with canned coconut milk, maple syrup and nuts. Top it with some chocolate and chill it. Makes great vegan dessert in minutes! Plus it tastes just like Almond Joy!

Claudia: Es muy bueno el sabor, la textura y el aroma. Solo lo compro porque es el único que consigo que no trae azúcar adicionada y que además no está duro.
Es suave y con meterlo unos cuantos minutos al horno, queda doradito.
Solo me gustaría que fuera más económico. Pero al ser el único sin azúcar y de excelente sabor, lo seguiré comprando.

J.T884: Bob's Red Mill Shredded Coconut Unsweetened, 12-Ounce (Pack of 4)

I bought this item to try it, because I had bought other products of theirs at my local grocery store and liked their quality. I normally buy only organic coconut flakes, and I use them to make coconut milk for my dogs, and the resulting coconut flour to make wheat free dog treats.
There was some visible difference visible difference, the Bob’s had more of a yellow hue and were larger thicker pieces. My milk also turned out thicker, and it separated more into coconut oil and coconut water than the organic product I had been using. I cannot say if this was only because it wasn’t organic, as I have only tried the two brands. It could be a normal variation. The milk didn’t have much of a taste difference, and my dogs don’t appear to have any issue with it. However, for the price, and the fact there were no additvies make this a good buy, if you don't want to spend the extra couple of dollars for organic. And if you read the comments, they claim their product was tested in the past for pestiside residue and it came back clean.

The problem I do have is the packaging, and that is why I gave it 4...

Happy WifeHappy Wife: We select the best quality foods we can afford and this includes coconut. This review is a comparison between the Bob's Red Mill and Tropical Traditions finely shredded coconut which I have been buying on their website - for some reason Amazon carries many of their products but not their coconut.

Here is my comparison.

Freshness- This item arrived with an expiration date of 3/2013, which is eleven months from delivery. I wish I knew what the exp date was on the TT brand - but it lasted me well over a year on my shelf and I believe that since they harvest the Coconut (they are primarily a coconut products company) it may have been fresher.

Price- I buy the Tropical Traditions in the plastic 3.5 gallon pail, which I buy online when it is half price at $17.50, which costs about $5 a lb.

I decided to compare it to Bob's Red Mill which I researched and felt was probably the highest quality on Amazon, so I got it with the Subscribe n Save, so I saved a little more. Without the Subscribe n Save, Bob's Mill has free shipping and currently comes to $4.38 a lb. I think Bob's Mill is priced well for what you are getting.
