C. stacy Beam: I tend to not write a review unless I really am impressed with a product AND feel that maybe my review has something to add to the other hundreds of reviews.

I am leaving this review because while I am NOT a first responder, nor am I ex-military or someone who is always outdoors - in other words, I am not a woman who would be inclined to carry a knife/tool in my pocket every day but I nonetheless purchased it and I throw it in my laptop bag when going to work, my backpack when going on day hiking trips and in my luggage when traveling thanks to getting caught in an unexpected natural disaster when traveling in a Third World country a decade ago and now understand how even the most basic easy-to-carry things like a folding knife, flashlight, fire-starter could have made all the difference had I had ANY of those things at the time. In other words, while I don't use the rescue knife every day, I learned the hard way to be more prepared in the most basic of ways.

I was immediately impressed when I opened the box from Amazon- coming in it's own box, with excellent craftsmanship/build, good directions and email follow up from Blize Tec make this product stand above others....

Just wanted to say that this is an amazing knife, and really lives up to its name as a survival knife. Just got back from a month in the Himalayan mountains of Nepal, and the performance of this knife was stellar in almost every way. It is sturdy but not too heavy. It has a solid feel in your hand, and stays clipped in place even with repeated daily use. The blade is very sharp, and has kept a good edge after a very demanding month of back country use (see pics).

A few of the tasks this handled beautifully included:

-- Regular cutting of fruits and various plastic food packages
-- Cutting several small woody shrubs (1-2") with the serrated portion of the blade (used for the pack mules)
-- Butchering and skinning a full size goat
-- Carving several wooden figurines from small branches (4-6")
-- Cleaning dirt and grim from under fingernails
-- Sharpening walking sticks
-- Assisting in the sewing and repair of a blown out pair of boots
-- Lighting several fires with fire starter
