iLx: Great inflator! I highly advice never to purchase cheap'o Infators, they will fail you when you need them the most.

Black and decker is my go to brand for entry level tools! This one is silent (as silent as this type of devices could be) and easy to use. The cable is long enough for all my needs. When inflating the tires the tool wont dance in the floor (bad experience with cheap Inflators)

Only complaint is the design of the cable storage slot beneath the inflator, it takes a long time to properly insert the cable there)

Mike Davidson: This is the only small, portable air compressor I've ever owned that didn't burn itself up after fully inflating a couple of car tires. The last of my many pumps smoked during only one motorcycle tire inflation. You might want to get an extra battery. Amazon has them in higher mah sold in pairs for less than one normal mah battery at Walmart. Oh yeah, if your battery dies the pump can also be plugged into a wall outlet. It's display indicates existing tire pressure, the pressure you want and stops pumping after it reaches your pre-set pressure. It's easy to set up and turn on, then you can walk away and it'll turn itself off automatically and save its battery power.

Amazon Customer: I have to lower my tire pressure to 15 for the sand . One battery does not fill all 4 tires to 35 psi . Also it does not turn off automatically so must watch each tire. Lighter works fine its just hot running the car and watching the tire quage. I think I expected better quality from Black and Decker.
Works fine otherwise .

Franke: I have a few tools in the black and decker line and so it was obvious that this would be something I would try if I wanted a electric powered air pump.

If you are using this primarily for tires that have shraeder valves this should work great. I didn't get a chance to really test them out on car tires but on the bike tires they managed to air them up and get it to the preset pressure with no major issues.

I tried using the presta adaptor to inflate some presta tires and it didn't work very well. The machine would cut off prior to hitting the correct air pressure. So there was no way to have the machine make it to the preset air pressure. Another shortcoming was using it to inflate balls like basketball, or volleyballs. Once again it had a tough time hitting the preset pressure.

My speculation on this is probably because the air pathway is so narrow for needle inflating and presta valves that it tricks the machine into a higher pressure reading, as the air goes it quickly it causes the air pressure reading to read higher due to the limited flow rate. Therefore causing it to cut out sooner and not reaching the preset pressure. This was unacceptable to me and...

Mark MasakiMark Masaki: The media could not be loaded.  I needed a good tire inflator after owning several old junk brand ones that kicked the bucket within a year, and since I recently purchased the 20V Max series lithium ion battery system, choosing this Black + Decker Multi-Purpose Inflator was a no-brainer. It has 3 modes of power: DC 20V Max Lithium Ion battery (not included), 12V “car cigarette-lighter” port, and of course AC cord plug. The cords are rather short, so using the battery would be the preferred power source, but at least they are there in event where you don’t have a charged battery available (or if you are stranded with a flat tire/ flat spare). Then there is that fact that an extension cord would do the trick. These cords are both not removable, in fact you coil them up neatly into the provided organized place. But the battery is obviously the best to use with this model anyway. You need to push the battery in place firmly to use (as seen in my video). There are 2 switches and 3 buttons on the main unit that are either self-explanatory or self-intuitive. I found after turning the motors on that they are relatively quiet compared to my previous inflators, and the unit does...
