ksoellers: I’m sure there are better quality ones out there (or at least my husband says the ones at work are better) but these work great, especially considering the price. We built a chicken coop run and needed to attach two rows of hardware cloth together with safety wire all around it. My fingers and hand were so sore after the first day working on it and I hadn’t made much progress. Enter these babies and it’s so much faster and easier to do. I’m very glad I ordered these!

M. BeardsleyM. Beardsley: They basically exceeded my initial expectations. It remains to be seen whether they will exceed my long term expectations. They get 4 stars instead of 5 because the fact is, these are not the highest quality pliers such that one might find in a military or NASA aircraft mechanics tool bag that one would expect to last at least one lifetime.. I have used those before and they are 5 stars so these can't also be 5 stars because they aren't built to that level. That being said, for the price, they are a great value for the hobbyist who probably won't be using them all that often. I have only owned these for a couple of weeks. I have used them a few times in that time and they haven't failed. the red paint is chipping off however. At this point, I'm happy with them and happy with the purchase. If these last 10 years, I'll give them the fifth star. I'll just put that on my calendar. If they break before then, I'll update the review.

derek anderson: I would have given these a perfect score, except there was a little bit of cosmetic damage to the lacquer when they arrived.
I immediately wired my grips onto my handlebars, and the pliers did a perfect job.

Mr D: Bottom Line: I would definitely buy these if you only need them on rare occasion like I do.

Longer Version:
I am new to safety wiring, but have experience cutting, stripping and soldering wires for a couple of decades (so I am pretty used to handling/cutting wire). That being said, I think these pliers mostly work fine. I was able to borrow a set of $200 Snap-Ons from a friend while I waited for these to show up at my door, and the Snap-Ons have an easier locking mechanism with raised finger holds, and cut twisted 0.032" wire much better than these. The Snap-Ons also twist both clock and counter-clock, but these are only advertised to twist one direction anyway so no knock on them there.

All of my gripes there being out of the way, for what they cost these pliers get the job done, and even on twisted wire you can eventually get them to cut, but I just grabbed a trusty old pair of needle nose with a wire cutter built in from my tool box, and was able to cut the twisted wire more easily. So from my perspective they do what they need to. I only safety wire a few things on my track motorcycle, which means they will spend about 99% of the rest of their life sitting...
