Portianay: Amazon has this book, I'm Trying to Love Rocks, all mixed up with her previous book, I'm Trying to Love Spiders. This is tough on those of us looking for reviews, with a view to purchase.

I'm Trying To Love Rocks is perfect. For the non-science loving kid, (and I was one, long ago), this book grabs the reader's attention with it's fun text and great illustrations. BEST QUOTE FROM BOOK: "Science isn't about having the answers--it's about asking questions." The author's subtle humor has a ton of kid appeal, too.
I am a children's librarian, and I consider this book perfect for school and public libraries.

C: Super cute book. My 4 yo thinks some of the lines are hilarious. I like it best of the 3 books (the spider one is also really good).

Sol: This book has done a wonderful job of creating a fun twist to show how amazing geology is. It is NOT just a bunch of rocks; it is about the dynamic earth that is always changing. The story is a conversation between a main character and the supposed writer of the book (who initially claims that rocks are boring). The author uses some very creative ways of adding action and engaging the reader. My son loves this book. He likes to read one character and I read the other; he gets very into his character. I appreciate that the author made the geology heroine an African-American girl. I look forward to checking out her other books.
