claire morales: Pema Chodron's lucidity places Shantideva's 'The Way of the Bodhisattva' in contemporary context with insight into the ways we block our innate joy and compassion, highlighting our neuroses the practice reveals. Becoming Bodhissatvas: A Guidebook for Compassionate Action has been very helpful and enormously encouraging. A dear friendly companion and guide on the path.

Monona: Don’t buy if you have No Time To Lose. This is a reissue with a different title.
That said, this is a remarkably insightful commentary by the Ven. Pema Chodron. Shantideva’s Way of the Bodhisattva is a beloved root text. Ani Pema brings it to life in a way that allows us to have access to Shantideva’s teachings for our use today.
This text does not include commentary on Chapter, which would be a full book in and of itself.
So grateful to be studying these materials!

Susan Michele Meyer: This is one of my favorite books. It's all me through a difficult time when a family member was recovering from an accident in another state. This book reinforces personal well-being on an inner level, and encourages a no nonsense approach to holding on to a joyous Spirit perspective while encountering challenges in the world of changes. Pema Chodron illuminates a timeless Buddhist text by Shantidevi and makes the knowledge available to us with a Western train of thought.

elaine: Pema Chodron is an amazing teacher and fellow human being. No judgement, no "I'm holier then thou" self-elevation, and completely simple yet profound teaching accessible by every single person from the "novice" to the "learned". After readying one of her book, I went right back and purchased every single other Pema book available on Amazon. She is The Woman!!

BarbaraD: I recently discovered Pema Chodron and have read many of her books and listened to her talks. However, for me, this book is at the top. She mentions Shantideva's 9th Chapter on Wisdom which is Not presented here and I think there is a great need to hear her presentation of it to complete the text. Perhaps she has already published it and I am not aware. She communicates on such a human level and with true clarity that practically every paragraph has relevance to our lives which can actually be practiced. By hearing Shantideva's experience and insight into the human condition you may gleam a better understanding of your own.

Reen: In our very busy day, and high tech always connected world, these were spot on CDs to listen to coming or going to work. It will be amazing I think, to see how much you can listen to on a CD just doing errands around town. It is like having a caring friend, or coach talking to you to inspire, calm, and point you off in the path you need to flow. Each time I listen, I gathered something new to learn. Sometimes, a new thing to revisit from a different view. Pema is like that you know. I have been hooked on her books and CDs to supplement my reading, and yoga and meditation. We are a work in progress. Enjoy and Namaste'

D. J.: I came across this book when i read an excerpt fro it in a collection of Buddhist works. I had been going through some tough personal issues, mostly of my own doing. I happened to read an excerpt on a whim and found it fascinating and really on target with what I had been dealing with. From there I decided to purchase the entire book and, although I havent quite finished yet (as I find myself stopping to reflect quite a bit), this book has taught me a new way to think about life and how to deal with the "restless mind" and "habitual thought patterns". This book can be very useful to anyone interested in discovering some of the mysteries of the mind. Highly recommended!

durga: Although the book is dense / intense, and not an easy or quick read for novices, it is beautifully written and encourages readers to take action. It encouraged me to donate to earthquake victims, which maybe I would not have done or perhaps may have done later, if I hadn't read this book now.
