When she pushed open the door, flies would come in. We were worried that we would not be able to hear this bell when she opened the door, but it is a nice, loud enough pleasant ding that alerts us to close the door. Kitty has us well trained.

Makayla Scott: If you have a timid dog this is not the product for you. The bell is very high pitched and because it rings right next to the dog it hurts her ears. She’s timid of it because it’s so loud and high pitched (which are sounds that dogs generally don’t enjoy) she doesn’t use it but when she gets excited to be let out she clumsily runs into it causing it to ring so it somewhat works haha, even though she doesn’t intentionally ring it we know she wants to go out because we can hear her potty excitement from running into it after sliding on the hardwood floor. Given that she constantly hits her tiny skull on it (she’s a dachshund) the top screw has ripped out of the drywall and it’s anchor, so now it’s just dangling until I get some longer screws for it or decide to pull it off the wall. The bell and attachment bar are painted metals and the paint is coming off of them. The attachment bar/ handle is very malleable- not really a good thing, I think in part this is what lead up to the screw ripping out, anytime it’s hit either by paw, hand or little puppy skull it bends. Overall: it’s not the best in my opinion. It ended up working out but not the way it was intended...

Reina: This bell has been a savior for my door blinds. My puppy was “pawing” the blinds to let me know he needed to go out, I was terrified he was going to break the blinds lol. Well after installing the bell using heavy duty dry wall anchors it is holding up great! Took him some time to get used to the bell, it scared him at first lol. My puppy is 4 months old and 30lbs. Needless to say he is “heavy handed” with the bell. He sometimes pulls the top of the arch all the way down if he really needs to go and it has not budged. Obviously we own our home and didn’t mind screwing in the thick dry wall anchor but I would definitely recommend doing that. The reviews mentioning the bell easily being ripped out of the wall is due to the dry wall. There are smaller anchors that can be removed or covered with dry wall repair if you are a renter.

Phoenix: OVERALL:
We love them--highly recommend! We bought one to try for the back door and my dog learned to use it quickly; immediately bought 3 more. Pavlov's dog--SHE has definitely trained US to open the door when she rings the bell. Some of the sly indoor cats have caught on & try to fool the humans.
POSITIVES:
We bought 3 more so we can have a bell inside & out of the two main doors my dog uses. The bells are not expensive, so i didn't hesitate at all to get as many as needed--once i confirmed it would work with my dog.
My dog no longer scratches up the door--which is awesome.
My dog can now communicate! She no longer has to scratch the door or stare at me until someone can decipher if she:
A. Is just hanging out by the door.
B. Wants to look outside, but not go outside. #FicklePrincess
C. Actually wants you to open the door.
POSSIBLE NEGATIVES:
My dog weighs 65 lbs, and so the force of her ringing the bell can pull the screws from the wall, knocking the bell & screws off--when they're just screwed into the thin plaster. It doesn't damage the bell or screws--just leaves 2 screw-sized holes in the wall. I can now prevent this by screwing it...

Jolly Roger: We added the dog doorbell for our puppy so he could let us know if/when he needed to go potty. He really took to it (with training/treats) and enjoys ringing it - sometimes a lot - when he needs to go. We installed it on our baseboard near the door so he could easily ring it. (We did substitute some slightly longer screws for attaching it to the wall.) It has withstood his vigorous efforts to make a lot of noise (thankfully he is settling down a bit.) I would highly recommend it as it doesn't mess up the paint/door like the swinging bells did. And one day, we will easily be able to fill the small holes/paint if we decide to remove it.
