C. Blair: First, it is not silent, merely very quiet. You can still hear a faint ticking sound, although this isn't a big deal.
The bigger problem is that, like others, I have found that this clock works great for about a year, then the alarm stops working. It now jams at the alarm time for about 20 minutes before unjamming itself, and the alarm doesn't actually go off.
Edit: My bad, I assumed it was the battery but tried it with a replacement battery that was also duff. When I used a fresh battery it started working again.

Wladi: Leider ist das Innenleben der Uhr billig verarbeitet, sodass die Uhr nach nur wenigen Minuten stehen geblieben ist. Nachdem man es etwas nachdreht, läuft sie wieder für paar Minuten und bleibt wieder stehen. Als Deko allerdings immer noch gut geeignet ;)
