HH: This is an interesting book about axolotls but not all the information is accurate. The book says for treats you can feed your axolotls lean chicken or beef. This is not true. Chicken and beef are not healthy foods to feed axolotls. They should only be fed worms. I have read some other reviews that have pointed out other misinformation in this book.
The book mentions metamorphosis but says axolotls do not undergo metamorphosis. This is true for most axolotls but the book fails to mention it is possible for an axolotl to go through metamorphosis when they are in harsh conditions.
Over all I found there were some interesting facts and I look forward to using this book in my classroom, but keeping in mind I will want to fact check information in this book before sharing it with others.
The book has great pictures. I enjoyed the pages about the life cycle of an axolotl and the comparison to the tiger salamander.
