MORTIS ENG: 4th set purchased . GREAT item to quick connect plows . winches etc... Could use simple directions as to oreintation of plug studs into plastic holder.

Ms. A.: These connectors had to be ordered based exclusively on Amazon's written description and picture(s).

While these connectors may be excellent quality and very functional I have my concerns-doubts because:
In my opinion no matter what the product is, NOR who the vendor/manufacture is, every product should come with printed company information, including contact info, guarantee (if one), and instructions for assembly AND use!

Neither of the two packages had ANY of the above printed info inside! The vendor-manufacture may 'assume' every buyer 'knows' how to assemble, properly, AND SAFELY use them. Yet, NOTHING.

While it may be my LACK of knowledge the picture(s) & the clamps have through hole with a hex depression intended to capture-hold a nut (to preclude spinning). Yet there is NO picture NOR explanation what the holes are intended for.

Since there are ZERO instructions I have no idea what to do once the wire is inserted and crimped/soldered in the metal connector. Apparently the connector 'slides' into the one piece shell? There is no visible way nor written explanation for how the wire-connector is retained in the shell once inserted. It appears...

Jason84Jason84: 11/2017 Good but do not fit 2awg welding cable without trimming strands to 4awg size.

01/2018 Same seller "Sold By: Buy Me Everything" this "same" item will not fit the other connector I bought in 2017. The 2018 version has...see yellow part in picture. They will not connect together without cutting. 2018 version does fit 2awg welding cable without trimming! Which makes it the best for the $ with the dust boots which fit well.

02/2018 Ordered another set and got the undersized ones like I had in 2017. Just going to have to Return them!

Rusty: Please be aware that if you use #4 or #2 copper wire in these connectors that you can not run 350 amperes thru the wireing constantly. #2 copper is good for about 95 amperes on a constant load. You may get a lot more amperes thru the #2 copper for a short period of time, as in cranking an automotive engine, but then you need to allow the wires to cool down for a while, or you will melt the insulation off the wires and eventually melt the copper wire. If you run over the rated amperes of the conductor that you choose to use, you also run the risk of melting your solder joint. It is best to crimp the connectors with a proper tool. Some tool rental places carry the proper crimper. Rusty

I connected 4 AWG wire, not sure how you could properly connect 2 AWG. I used a crimper and the connection is very solid. The aluminum posts do make a very good connection - very tight and solid. I base my amperage usage on the wire used - so taking 4 AWG I am sure these will preform to my needs.
I purchased 2 sets, so I could have one in the rear for my air compressor and one in the front for my jumper cables.
Again, the connection is very solid. The build quality seems sound. I like the rubber caps - not sure if I'll use them but they do fit well.
