Wayne A. Smith: A page turner. I agree with some reviewers who said this is stronger than book one of the series.
Agent Atlee Pine is a strong character with a great and tragic background.
I’m not going to restate what thousand of reviewers have said about the plot. The strands come together well.
The series so far is great escapism. Already ordered books 3 & 4.

MrsLeif: A Minute to Midnight is the second book in the Atlee Pine series.
After catching a little girl's kidnapper and beating him almost to death, Atlee Pine's boss makes her take a leave. He knows Atlee needs to step away from work and look into her past to be able to move forward.
Atlee decides to go back to Georgia. The last place she saw her twin sister, Mercy. They were six when a man came into their bedroom and took her and hit Mercy so hard that she ended up in the hospital with severe head trauma. However, during the trip down memory lane, Atlee is not alone. Her assistant Carol Plum is with her.
Coming back home brings all kinds of feeling for Atlee and when she starts asking questions to the people who used to know her parents, she realizes more than one is hiding things from her making it harder for her to follow a trail.
When a series of murders start occuring. Atlee lends a hand to the investigation. Another FBI agent is called to help out. He and Atlee have some history but they will put their feelings aside to help with the task at hand.
Quite an interesting novel this was. Trying to figure out if the murders were related to Atle's...

Bryan BE: a great story with agent PIne-the author wants to drag/continue the search for Pine's sister Mercy-throwing more stuff into her past-as Atlee heads to her former hometown and gets more background into the past-and a killer as well-it was a great read and I want to get the next book in the series and continue the search for Mercy

Myers: I had only just read the first book which I really enjoyed so fairly quickly I read book 2. Once I again, I really liked the Attlee Pine character, she is gutsy, strong and does not fall for the main male characters, which I personally think is really good and it shows women do not need or want a man in their lives.
The writing, as always with Baldacci is fast paced and giving lots of potential outcomes withi the story. I found it very readable and the second half of the book went pretty quick. I did however find one .plot line which I thought was pretty obvious, but Pine took a while to get there, which in the context of the character, I found to be a weakness, though I hope this does not spoil any reader’s enjoyment as it is a very good book.
