AshGray: You get what you pay for and in this case that means a lot of features! These are really great walkie-talkies for the price and I am very pleased with them. The size is small enough to hide in a pocket, backpack, or other type of bag (you may have to remove the detachable antenna for some small bags); they come with 2 chargers, wrist straps, battery pack/back cover combos, combination earbud/mike, antennae, user guides, and belt clips. The belt clips are a little awkward to install unless you have a steady hand, a good eye, and a small Phillips screwdriver since they attach directly to the back of the unit; once installed, you are fine! The sound is amazingly sharp, clear, and totally understandable with no squelch or background noise. Since there is no LCD screen, a clear voice prompts you to what channel you are searching. VOX is a nice feature leaving you hands free and searches open channels. The range is amazing and can get up to 5 miles depending on terrain and weather conditions. I gave one to my 90 year old aunt to use to communicate with me if she needs something and she lives 5 blocks away! I heard her loud and clear as if we were in person or talking on a telephone....

Mel S: We purchased these for my 6 year old son several months back. He saved up his money to buy them and had been begging us for walkie talkies. After doing my research and reading hundreds of reviews, I chose this set. So far, he's only used them around our house - 3500 sf ranch. I was skeptical as to the range since we live in FL and with the construction codes to ensure our homes are hurricane resistant, we struggle with cell and wifi range. Surprisingly, we've had no problems with range or clarity at all. I like the headphone option as it eliminates the noise for the rest of us and they make him feel like a big shot! It's also nice that they come with a clip so you don't have to hold it when you're using the headsets. They seem to hold a charge for a long time and also recharge on the base quickly. I like that the base lights up red while charging and green when ready.
I'm only giving 4 stars instead of 5 because I think the design could be improved by adding a bigger, easier to press button for talking.
