Only significant downside is that it's easy for these to inadvertently power-on in a bag due to other items pressing against the buttons. Overall a great value for the kids.

The battery life is not great. It is using a lot of energy even though we are not using it for long time. Also, the unit starts automatically when it is moved fast. One of the unit was hanged next to the door and it was one when the door was closed fast.

We bought this to use during our long walk when the kids drive their bikes. We can talk to each other anytime when they are far away from us. Two of them are with my kids and I keep the other one with me. It work well for a long distance. Overall a good purchase for us
The quality of the product is good. It is well built and feels solid. So far not dropped it down to check how it react to a drop :)
The sound quality is also good and able to hear if well.
The button on the side to talk is well placed to use it quickly with one hand.

1. It will be great if there is a combination of pink and purple in the pack to give it to daughters. So far it has pink, blue and yellow colors.

C.JC.J: My 5 year old has been asking for walkie talkies for some time, I couldn’t find any in store, but luckily Amazon is always here to save the day. I found this product on my first search, the bright colors instantly grabbed my attention, and it was a pack of 3 (perfect for my son, husband and I) so I ordered it. Came in the mail couple days later and I was very pleased with the product! Light and very easy to use, comes with a ringer, volume control, channel control, and each one has a little flash light built in at the top! So fun for playing hide and go seek outside at night. And the range is amazing for “kids” product. That’s the first thing I tested, I went walking a bout a mile constantly saying “can you hear me now?” My kid LOVES it. And they have a neat little clip on the back so we clip them on our belt loops, makes us feel more like FBI agents or whatever it is we’re pretending to be that day. The durability is great too, my son gets pretty rowdy when he loses (poor loser, we’re working on it) , and has actually thrown the walkie talkie on the floor a few times, or accidentally knocked it off his belt, it did not break, so that’s a plus! Amy SAmy S: The walkie talkies arrived in a fairly small box with each in a plastic baggie and instruction manual. Each walkie talkie takes 4 AAA batteries put in by sliding off the back cover. I learned if the cover doesnt easily slide back on it means a battery needs to be pressed down more. Originally I gave these to my 5yr son as a plan to take on our hikes, but he loved them so much he was running around the house with one and giving dad and I the other (the word "over" was used A LOT). The buttons were easy to push and kid friendly sizing (really he would only need to press the side button/or could turn on hands free for no buttons). I was going crazy because the sounds were so loud each time a button was pushed- I pulled out the manual and realized that the beeping when I pushed a button or sent a message could be turned off (it will only then make a sound if a button is pushed when the lock is on) GAME CHANGER! That made these walkie talkies great in my book. We have only used them less than half a mile a part so I cant comment on distance really but they are pretty clear and no feedback if they are close together (kid likes to still use them even if right next to me).
