Aqueon QuietFlow LED PRO Aquarium Power Filter: Keep Your Aquarium Clean and Clear with 20 Gallons of Filtration

Tall Russian: I have a tank with a large number of fish (around 20 fish total, plus around 40 shrimp). To give the bacteria enough filter surface, I have been experimenting with different filter types and configurations. I owned a canister filter (under the aquarium), gave up on that and switched to these hanging filter types. I bought and used 3 Aqueon QuietFlow filters: 50, 10 and 20. The 20 is my favorite! The flow of the 50 is too high and it is a lot noisier than others. Also, because of the high flow, the filter in the 50 needs to be replaced very often. 10 is quiet, but has a "medium" size filter pad, which is way too small for anything more than 2-3 fish. The 20 is my favorite - it is very quiet, the flow is good without making the fish struggle against the current, and it uses a large filter element, the same as 30 and 50. If you have an aquarium, I recommend getting 2 of Aqueon QuietFlow 20 filters and using them in parallel instead of getting one QuietFlow 50. You will get twice as much filter surface, a back-up for failures and will need to replace the filter pads a lot less frequently than in other filter models.

Vinstoj: Overall the pump is super quiet and filters the water quickly and efficiently. The design allows you to customize what you want to filter if there were areas of concern. There’s a good amount of extra space in the cavities that you can add a small amount of extra media if needed like bio balls.

The pump however has stopped a few times where it’s still running but the impeller could not move freely. When taken apart to check for debris, there didn’t seem to be anything there (no residue etc) and the impeller was able to move freely after it was manually pushed. We also have the smaller version but have never encountered a similar issue on that unit.

Otherwise it’s been a solid performer and the fact that it self primes comes in handy after power outages or surges.

Kendra Christiansen: The product came assembled and in great condition. I rinsed the dust from the filters and set it up. The self priming feature is awesome! Once the water started running through, my husband and I noticed how fantastically quiet this filter was compared to our last one!! I'm sure the fish are loving this too :) I had just finished scraping some green algae off of the tank glass and within an hour of running the filter the water had cleared up. I have been running the filter for only a day now, but so far, we are extremely happy with this product.

B Wernex: Doesn’t fit on rim of 35 gallon tank. 1/8 in too small where it hangs. Had to put it on smaller tank. Works quietly. Needs to be primed to start filtering.

Kathy: I have only had the filter running for a few hours but I thought I would give Top Fin aquarium owners a heads up. The filter doesn't fit the Top Fin 29 gallon aquariums very well because the plastic rim is thicker then the filter is designed for. I had to shove extra filter padding between the rim and the spill over to keep the filter level and it elevated further then it should be but works. If you also have the lid that comes with the kit this creates a problem with water spilling out on the lid so I had to adjust the lid further forward so the water spills back into the tank. Filter works fine with my jerry rigging but Top Fin 29 gallon kit owners might want to give this filter a pass and look at other options. I'm primarily using it as a polishing filter since my biological filtration is an under gravel filter. I wanted a polishing filter with motor designed to sit below the water and no skimmer. A skimmer completely unneeded in my freshwater setup and can cause excessive noise when debris and floating plants get sucked into the skimmer. Today my fish was acting silly, wrapping himself around the suction, i guess he likes it, he’s sad rn. guess i dont need it suckin him up any more than that /: poor thing, bless him. but anyway yeah the trickle is so nice and peaceful, i can but replacement filters right here, and it gets the job done. my fish were starting to get real pretty colors at first, the like it. i think they poo’d too much while i was away so now they dont want food and R sad about stuff. i just shove their poo towards the filter, let it suck it all up. just always test water N throw in ammonia treatment :)

CD: Good filter with nice water flow and I have it on my 10 gal tank. I did dip the impeller in the tank water so it didn't start up dry but did I need to? I don't know. No noise. Keeps the water clear and I like clean and clear. Aqueon 20 filter is a good filter

ashleigh waisglass: I've only had it for a week but I went and bought a second one to replace my 20 year old filter because I was that impressed with it. It seems like a great filter. It runs really smoothly. Obviously it isn't SILENT, but it's easy enough to sleep with in the same room. The sound is barely noticeable. I'd highly recommend it to a beginner, as it's extremely simple to use, comes with a sponge for biological filtration, and a light to remind you when to change your cartridges. Installation is a breeze, and there's no need to prime it. All in all a great filter.

Jenny NgJenny Ng: I actually bought this filter in the used/refurbish section on Amazon after months of searching for the right filter for my new aquarium, 10 gallon tank. Despite I bought it used this filter work like a charm! Here is a mini breakdown:

Performance: Powerful. The pump was so strong that I ended up making a baffled to restrict some of the water flow but even then the water can be seen rippling through the surface. Not only is the pump strong but it is quiet as well, really live up to its name "QuietFlow". Occasionally some small water dripping and humming from the motor can be heard but you have to be right in front of the tank to notice it. This filter is also self priming, which mean that you do not have to pour water in the filter to get the filter to work and move the water flow. I found this a bonus, since I always unpluged my filter to do water changes. And every time without a failure when I plug it back in, the filter just automatically do its job and within seconds, water is already pouring out and silently too!
