A: This thing is powerful! It’s got a very strong flow, so I would not recommend it for fish, but it is fantastic for my turtle! It’s also super easy to take apart and clean, which is great. The suction cups are strong enough to hold up to my turtle’s constant meddling. It’s small, compact, and unassuming, but gets the job done with great gusto. It’s super quiet, which is amazing considering it’s effectiveness. I 100% recommend this for turtle owners. I’ve had it for awhile now and it’s the best filter I’ve used yet.

AdrienneAdrienne: *My tank is a round 3.5 gallon with the following dimensions: 10.4 in DIA x 10.7 in H (26.4 x 27.1 cm). It houses a nano culture and live plants/moss (ember tetras, ghost shrimp, butterfly pleco, and longfin leopard danios)- Hopefully this info helps anyone with a similar size tank and creatures
This filter is so quiet I keep checking to see if it's running! When it was first installed it in the tank there was a bit of noise (and I was definitely ready to send it back-theres nothing worse than a noisy filter), but all the sounds finally resolved- give it about 24 hours. The cartridge is easy to remove and clean and doesn't clog easily. So far I haven't even found snails in it. It is pretty small and has a low profile which is important for my tank. It suctions well onto the curved glass wall, and I love that it's submergible!!! It's stays affixed securely but is easy to slide up and off the wall for cleaning.
Be aware the the flow of the filter is kind of a lot for a nano tank. The flow is NOT ADJUSTABLE. However you can adjust/turn the head of the filter toward a rock or the glass so it deflects it to a much more manageable intensity. This has worked perfectly in my...

Melanie: I bought this for my betta because the flow was adjustable and you can point the outflow in a certain direction, but even on the lowest power setting it blew my poor little fish across the aquarium. I tried repositioning the outflow but it would still blast against the glass. It stressed out my fish. I really tried to make it work. It would be good for an aquarium with fish who don't mind a strong current, but for any fish that likes calmer water I would not suggest it. Do not be fooled by the adjustable flow setting, it is still a very powerful filter.

Akari: As someone who's a light sleeper, I needed a very quiet filter for my bedroom tank and I'm very pleased with how quiet it actually is. Almost inaudible if anything, a very low humming sound if you listen for it.
The flow of the outtake by default is set to MAX but can be adjusted, though it took a bit of fiddling to figure it out. You have to extend the outtake tube, pull that part off completely and give the nozzle a good twist until it starts clicking (Requires a bit of force). Once it's set to your desired flow just push the extension piece back into the outtake tube. It's nice that the whole outtake tube can swivel and rotate as well.
This filter is pretty compact but spacious enough to fill it with your own bio media and sponges. If you go that route, make sure that the bio media doesn't shake around otherwise it'll make an annoying rattling sound when the filter is running. A bit of poly-fil to fill the gaps works wonders (Keeps the water clear too!)
Overall, this filter is working perfectly in my 10 gal and my betta and other fish seem happy with the adjusted flow.

Liv.H: Arrived the next day which was a great surprise!
Note: I am using the 10gal model to cycle a 5.5gal aquarium
First off, I'm actually very impressed with this filter it is almost completely silent. However, I can hear the propeller and motor running at night when everything is quiet. It is certainly not too loud to ignore.
The outtake is fully adjustable which is nice. Not only can you turn the nozzle to direct the flow, the height is adjustable as well as the whole outtake tube itself can pivot so that you can adjust it to be completely perpendicular to the rest of the unit! Unfortunately for me the flow adjustment was stuck so I have to leave it running on full (thankfully this is fine for me).
The inside composes of a small sponge filter and a green plastic piece that acts as a surface for bacteria to grow on. This is honestly a great improvement on other internal filters I've used which only have the sponge with no additional biological component.
Overall this filter is certainly worth the few extra dollars compared to other internal filters and I would definitely recommend it to other people who need an internal filter but are hoping for a...

AndyBoutilier: I ordered the large filter for my 33 Gallon aquarium. I have been using it for a month and a half and have to say it is worth the money I paid for it. The filter is very quiet and sleek. I have rinsed the filter once after doing a partial water change and within a few hours the water was crystal clear again. I have used Whisper brand before and this filter is far better. I do notice that its intake is not overly strong, but its flow is pretty strong. If you adjust the flow of the stream properly, the stream in the aquarium does allow for the removal of debris properly. Adjust the stream to point at an angle to get a nice current in your aquarium.

Amazon Customer: I just read the recent negative review on this filter so felt I must chime in! I got this because my boyfriend was getting very grumpy about the noisy air pump in our bedroom. This filter, on the other hand, soon stopped him complaining :D It is almost completely silent, if you listen hard then there is a very faint hum, but no more than that. Now then, I have this in a 5 gallon, NOT a 10 gallon, I'm not sure it would be enough filtration for a 10, but for a 5 it works great. Water is clear, and the flow is STRONG (I've remedied this by turning the head to face the wall). I would say the only minus is that when you turn off the filter to take it out and clean it, the bottom part can fall off, and then all the crap that was in it goes back into the water. This is annoying, but I'm still working on a better removal technique, I'm sure it exists.
All in all, the pros of good price, quietness, strength of flow, and water clarity outweigh that one con.
Oh, I also am not using the filter media that came with it. I have a cut up bit of aquaclear sponge and a little but of seachem matrix in there :)

M. Johnson: Giving this a 3 Star Review. The filter seems durable, as filters go. I purchased this filter for its ability to be fully submersible and discreet - something of a challenge for such a small tank (10 gal). It has been in the tank for a little over a month now with six tetras, a ghost shrimp, and a snail. I also liked the fact it had an adjustable flow rate on the return pipe, and it is quiet. I wasn't looking for the standard top-of-the-tank filter, and wanted something I could blend in with the décor, and it works well for that. The suction cups have held well, and I've tested it in both horizontal and vertical applications and it hasn't moved or slid from where I've placed it. That said, I had a tough time getting the actual flow meter dial to move, and at one point thought I was going to break the return off just trying to get the dial to move. I found that fully extending the return helped to turn the dial. The internal parts seem a bit flimsy, and you must take care when changing out the carbon filter. I will most likely be replacing this filter in the near future. The major downside to this particular model seems to be its lack of doing much more than stirring the water...

Rani Arce: For a solid 4 years this was my baby’s filter and it was QUIET. I had to reach out directly to the manufacturer twice with questions and they got back to me in a timely manner ready to resolve any questions/concerns.
Definitely recommend to aquatic pet parents
