Boxer's,Boston's,Betta's & a boy: I have purchased these in the past from Aquatic Arts and found them to be an excellent product. I have 4 20 gallon tanks full of snails! Huge Mystery snails and.now Ramshorn .. the Mystery snails create A LOT of ammonia even with canister filters and daily half tank water changes these things are beautiful,but filthy. They love these rocks. If the Ph gets too high before I get the eater changed I’ve seen the Mystery snails nearly swallow these rocks whole to breathe. This was years ago when I first started with the Mystery snails and was actually one of the older ones who couldn’t make it to the top for his air intake.. I found that he had nearly swallowed one of these rocks in order to breathe … this is when I really knew how well these filtration rocks worked. Now I use them as substrate and add them to the canister filters. Amazing filtration and keeps the water crystal clear. When the rocks gets dirty I drag them out,place in a kidded container with fresh water and shake the dirt off.

steve: this is my first time using one of the all natural bio media options out there but this is what i went with.honestly it just works for me. ive not tried other options in the same vain like matrix or a bio block or live rock ect. most of my filtering needs are met with several different types of sponge filter media and bio balls but i still needed more filtration to deal with some overcrowding and a few spikes of ammonia here and there . i can't say anything about those other products being better or worse but after having used these now for about a yr between 2 separate purchases and monitoring everything, they seem to hold up to their claims. i have not had any of the rocks break down or dissolve in any way, i havent needed to or seen a reason to clean them due to built up of any kind, and it has stabilized a heavily overpopulated 80gal via a small custom sump housing a 3in turtle 3 large goldfish, a 6in pleco, 2 dozen mixed species of minnows and has very few plants helping the biosphere so all in all for that reason alone i will say i like this product. but i also added some into my 30gal shrimp tank and 55gal community tank as well that sometimes struggle when i can't get...

Amazon Customer: Have them in a fish tank and have to rinse the rocks every other week because a funky slime grows on the rocks. Water is clear but slime is an unwanted side effect.

John Johnson: Upon arrival most of the stone was pummice with 9 stones being other non-porous rock. The total weight of non-porous rock was about 80 grams, meaning that 8% of this product is not useful. The stone cleaned nicely and did not crack or shatter when heated to 450°F for 1 hour. Overall it appears to be decent media with a good amount of surface area. Note though that some of these stones will float for a while, so do not plan on using these in an area that they can float away or get caught in pumps etc

Keith: This is a wonderful, cost-efficient substitute for ANY other biological media. It works perfectly in canister filters, and work MUCH better than the bio-rings or ceramic balls that are typically used. I'm very glad I discovered this product; as now I won't have to buy expensive Eheim Substrat Bio-media every six months, which adds up quickly!

I do recommend that you thoroughly wash these media in tank water, to remove the thick coating of powder that covers the media. Just rinse it off before you put it into your filter.

I'll stick with this product forever! Thanks guys!
