J9ball: Bought a cheap PH pen previously that lasted 1 use before it had to be recalibrated. The Apura pen is great, easy to calibrate and maintains calibration. I have periodically verified the reading with test strips and it remains accurate. Comes in a handy carrying case with laminated instructions and with calibration solutions that can be reused. Be aware the only calibration solutions that are not included are for high point PH and EC.

Tezcatlipoca: I bought this combo meter to replace my Hannah Instruments combo pH and EC meter. I like that the price is less and it comes with a carrying case. I've had zero issues because I read the instruction manual and troubleshooted any error codes (yes, just 2 codes but still very helpful for me.). Some reviews on here about calibration issues could've been from people too lazy to read the manual or not competent to understand. I'm a laboratorian (med lab scientist) and I do calibrations and measurements all the time and I love this meter. I always use a colorimetric pH indicator in tandem when determining my final pH after mixing all my nutrients. I've had zero issues so far with this meter. No meter lasts forever but I like the precision and accuracy I've been getting with this combo meter. I hope it can last longer than the Hannah combo one I had. I'd buy it again if it lasts at least 2 years, my meters get some use/abuse. I prefer a good pocket meter over a bench meter because I like to measure the pH of all my runoff without having to collect and label samples.

Amazon Customer: This instrument has stopped working properly after just 4 months of use. Seriously disappointed about this. I have emailed a apera and am awaiting a response. Since it stopped working properly, I’ve looked at more reviews which also say that the instrument stops working after a few months. This is not a cheap piece of equipment and should surely provide more than 4 months of working properly!
UPDATE
Apera are very responsive and replied almost instantly to my email. They suggested a few things to try which haven't worked. They wanted me to sent the instrument back to OHIO! and pay the delivery costs. Fine, thought i, but as a result of faulty readings and using pH adjustments according to the readings I have ended up tragically with dead plants. Currently I have asked for either a replacement sent FOC or reimburse me so I can get another one quickly through Amazon prime which would be next day delivery. To be fair I loved this equipment up until is stopped working properly. It would have been OK if it had just gone off or gave really wild readings, but it didn't, so I hade appropriate adjustments according to the ph on the instrument. Massive error. My plants are now dead...
