Its superior build quality, overall performance, durability, and tech support are unmatched, making it the perfect choice for your power protection needs.A.

Hobbled:
I've only been able to test this item by pulling out the AC plug (between the backup supply and the wall) while my desktop computer was on. The battery kicked in as it was supposed to and there was no interruption of current to my computer and monitor, both of which were plugged in to the back of the supply. The backup supply was able to keep the computer (i7 processor, 2 terabyte HD) and a 27" monitor going for about an hour.
I haven't been able to test it with a real power failure, yet. When that happens, I'll add to this review.
In the meantime, it has a lovely display which shows you everything you need to know. You have the option of turning this off if you find it distracting. I found the software easy to install. It seems perfectly silent, and I have pretty good hearing. Also, I don't feel any heat coming off of it (at least when it's in its standby mode, waiting for a power failure).
So. . . so far, so good.

Bob the budget tech geek:
This product has been working wonderfully for the time I have had it. As I am in the process of converting an older house over to circuit breakers from bus fuses, I was concerned with energy spikes and outages damaging my equipment. The display and setup on this device is extremely easy but not full proof so make sure you follow the directions to set this up correctly. The fact that the replacement battery packs are available online is a nice feature. So far the most important part of this device and why its important to understand my house being on fuses, are energy spikes. This thing has regulated such spikes numberous times in that a line designed for 124 volts during a storm or heavy winds can cause spikes as high as 200 volts is not only damaging to all electronic but heavily dangerous if not controlled.
I know some are not fans of the brand but for me personally I have no issues with this device at all and probably will get another backup of the same style to dedicate to the entertainment center. The only issue I have with this is the coaxial cable leads are very close to the top receptacles which is an issue if you have several blocky plugs to...

It was easy to set up. Just plug in everything you want to remain active if the line goes down. I plugged in the desktop, the monitor, the printer, a USB hub, a scanner. My normal power usage is just the computer and monitor; the other devices are usually off. (Be sure to plug into the side of the outlet strip on the rear panel that is supported during power outages, called the "Battery Backup Outlets")
By repeatedly pressing the 'Display' button, I can read my line voltage (123V), line frequency (60.0Hz), Event counter (0), Minutes of available battery operation (85 minutes), Load (39 Watts), Percentage of capability (6%). It's kind of fun to know all those things. Note that I am using this UPS at a small fraction of its capability (6%).
The unit was running perfectly but then I did the acid test. I pulled the plug on the UPS and......and.....everything kept working perfectly on battery power. Proof of the Pudding. The desktop will not see violent line surges or power outages. I believe that desktop life is thereby preserved. We get 'power blips' where power goes off for fractions of a second. Such blips can cost a lot of time (and frustration) if...

If you all know Jonny Guru, I do my reviews like him.
Construction: Very tough plastic and feels very excellent. Construction does not indicate a good UPS, so this will be weighted very lightly in my rating. 1/1
Sounds: No hissing sounds. The sounds were from a bad batch in 2018, its 2020 now, so APC definitely cleaned up their act. Will beep when the power goes out. If the fans are spinning all the time they are completely inaudible. Did they collaborate with Noctua or BeQuiet? 4/4
Performance: I unplugged the UPS from the wall to simulate a power outage and it kept the power to the computer on. It is ONLY meant to save your work and shut down. For my PC when im doing office tasks, it lasts between 45 and 60 minutes on just battery power. 10/10
Weight/Battery capacity: This thing is built like a tank! Meaning it is VERY heavy, which is good in a way because that gives you a feeling that this is a quality product and it is definitely! And this is where things take a turn. APC uses Sealed Lead Acid batteries instead of lithium ion or lithium sulfur batteries which would last MUCH longer in terms of capacity and lifespan. Unless im...

It's surprising to find a sinewave UPS from APC that's not from the Smart UPS line. For the first time, "sinewave" makes its way to the Back UPS lineup and is finally made affordable to the masses. Is it earth shattering news? No. Cyberpower has been offering cheap sinewave UPSes (CPxPFCLCD) for years. However, it's certainly great news for consumers who will now not only have a viable alternative, but one that is backed by legendary reliability and support.
Why sinewave? AC power coming out of your outlets look like sinewaves, a smooth periodic oscillation. Typically on any UPSes that are not on battery mode, the output from the UPS also look like sinewaves. It's when the power cuts out and the UPS battery kicks in where things get interesting. On non-sine wave models, the power output would actually look like very rough boxy steps / step square waves. The fancy marketing term is a step approximated sinewave. On sinewave models, the power output when the UPS is on battery actually look identical to when they are coming out of your outlet: a pure sinewave. Traditionally, the argument is that sinewave UPSes are $$$$, and most modern electronics can...

Hector Berumen F.:

Brandon Richardson: Received this UPS with a flat battery that needed to be replaced. The Amazon seller wasn't much help, but I reached out to the manufacturer and they shipped me a new battery replacement.
If you receive the UPS and the battery is completely flat, it's likely that it won't perform well in an outage. Reach out to your seller or contact APC directly.
This is a fantastic UPS with awesome monitoring capabilities. If you're using this UPS for a linux infrastructure, the apcupsd project works flawlessly without any fuss. There's also a nice prometheus exporter project too.
I highly recommend this UPS, if you're willing to deal with the RMA headache, haha.
