Vallene: If you get past the sexual content, you will find a gripping tale of hunting monsters and strong characters. I find Anita Blake series enthralling. Every book gives you a new monster and it is always scarier than expected.

Karlita: This series needs to be read in order otherwise you will not get the full effect of the characters and plot. I think that if I just picked this book up and read it I would not enjoy it...but because I've read all of the books in this series I did enjoy it. You could probably start at Blue Moon and get the feeling of this series though. This is not my favorite book in the series but having to wait a year I'm just happy to being entertwined in the complex storline again. Some characters I have followed since the beginning and it is fun to see how they have evolved. Just a warning though this series can be violent and has some intense sex scenes. But if you like vampires and wereanimals this series has a good twist on them. I give this book a five because I like this series and perhaps you will too.

Kindle Customer: I admit that some of the earlier books read like erotic Big Brother, but it seem as if Laurell has really taken on some of the previous book reviews and has brought Anita back from the bedroom. I don't know what the writing formats like for the hardback, but for the paper back it like the old books.
Though the other reviews put me off buying the book (for a while) I bought the book eventually and I was really stunned.
its funny, fast paced and OUT STANDING. im glad I bought it.
The sex scenes have calmed down a bit, but to be honest I don't mind a lot of sex if the story does go somewhere. I would whole-heartedly recommend you buy this book if you love Anita. :)

K. M. Martin: This was back to old-school Anita. She and Edward are tracking down monsters in the Pacific Northwest. Of course, they can't say who the monsters are for fear of endangering anyone who learns of the existence of the Harlequin. Nor can they mention that these Harlequin are being controlled by the Mother of All Darkness who is still trying to take over Anita's body.

Edward calls in reinforcements including Olaf the psychpath serial killer who loves to torture and murder girls who are physical matches for Anita. He wants to date Anita. Anita is having no problem at all with refusing except that if she refuses that might encourage Olaf to add her to his list of victims again. Anita is certain that one day it will come down to her or Olaf. She just hopes it isn't today.

Anita also gets involved with a den of red tigers when she needs to feed the ardeur and one of her tigers to call lives there. She meets another tiger who is not pure-blooded and is treated badly by the group. He has four tigers inside including the elusive gold tiger.

Rahbeka Anderson: Alright...so the book starts out quick and to the point. No drama with Anita leaving, no extra emotional oh poor me, and I'm holier than thou act. No it starts with her and Edward at the crime scene, they both know whats doing it but they can't tell the police so they have to work alone...as always and just how i like it. I didn't like how Skin Trade ended with the sex tactic, but I enjoyed how this one did. I mean everyone said that it was anticlimactic, but you know what I loved the ending! I mean anita had been gaining power since the first book and in the last book she became the mother of day. The equivalent of the darkness, and then with the extra help of the men and their power, no wonder it was easy for her to defeat the MOAD. I wasn't expecting an all out fight with her already on god level on her own and jean-claude and the others to give her a little boost. If it had become an all out fight I would've been annoyed, I mean why build up a character to being all powerful for her to struggle at the end? Lilie: Ma plus grande angoisse quand je commence un nouvel Anita, c'est l'ardeur : vais-je encore assister à des scènes de cul tout le bouquin ? Combien de nouveaux amants vont venir rejoindre le harem d'Anita ? Bonne surprise avec ce tome : une seule scène de sexe ! Je vous jure ! Et même pas longue avec ça ! Bon, on a quand même le droit à une discussion sans fin et sans aucun intérêt avant (bah oui, pourquoi continue-t-elle à se poser des questions alors qu'elle sait qu'elle va coucher avec quoiqu'il arrive ?) et pendant l'action, on a le désormais très célèbre « so tight, so wet »'son nouveau slogan.
Bref, là où la plupart des gens ramènent une tasse ou un magnet de leurs voyages, Anita ramène des amants. Heureusement, dans celui-ci, il n'y en a qu'un.
On accueille donc tous très chaleureusement Ethan qui vient rejoindre les tigres garous/ power rangers. Mais il est pas con ce petit-là, il lui demande combien de fois il peut espérer coucher avec elle dans la semaine vu le nombre de ses amants, la question surréaliste'
Mais bon, juste une scène de sexe (même si elle vire zoophile sur la fin), c'est quand même un exploit qui se doit d'être...

Chispita: What I liked about this book is that it felt so reminiscent to LKH in Guilty Pleasures. Early on there were less sex scenes, more internal conflict, and a lot of kick ass detective work (not that, that has disappeared I don't mind the tangential direction it took). Hit List reads like somewhere in the middle of the spectrum of the Anita Blake series not too raunchy (I'm not complaining about that either) or too prudish from where Anita first began. LKH gave us some hot steamy pages to turn but she left us with new characters, evolutions of certain characters, and mostly growth of the whole entourage. The villains do feel a little too one dimensional but the complexity of the other characters makes it seem as though they all have their own flavor. I have always loved the richness of how each character grew in LKH's mind. That essence is still there but it feels like all the mad slamming she is receiving is making her rethink the story line. I do not like seeing the hesitancy but I can see the direction she wants to go. I will always be a DIE HARD LKH Fan if she writes it I'll read it. Don't lose sight of things Anita Blake is far from...
