Got pie weights and a couple pie shields. Two things I was looking for. Both work good. Use them for making a Quiche. The plastic container did come cracked but that might be the fault of the shipper, not the seller.

T. WheelerT. Wheeler: Overall I was pleased with the weights and storage container, but there were a number of broken pieces that could have caused injury. Please be sure to pour out the weights when you get them to check

AHS: I just received these items the other day, and the quality of them is exceptional. They are exactly what I expected, the weights and container box they came in are durable. The 2 silicone crust protectors were a bonus! I was using aluminum foil strips to protect my crusts from over-browning, and it was cumbersome getting them to stay in place in the oven. These crust protectors can be fit to the size of your pie pan and will stay put in the oven. I look forward to using these these new tools for all the future pies/goodies I'll be baking! This kit was a good price, (I compared the cost of buying each item separately, which cost more), and they were delivered to me on time. I'd recommend these items to anyone ~ Happy Baking!

SuLu: This is a nice set of baking beans + silicone shields. I remember that my Mom always used real beans + strips of foil and her pies always came out great. Now that I'm home a lot more, I'm trying to make better pies, so I'm glad to have these. There are plenty of ceramic beans to fill a single layered 8", 9" or 10" pie plate (not deep dish). They are easy to use -- after rolling out the pastry, line the pie plate, add a square of parchment paper and fill with baking beans. No more crusts bubbling up or shrinking in the oven. Once removed from the oven and allowed to cool, it is easy to lift the baking beans out using the edges of the parchment paper and pour them into a colander to be rinsed and dried. The shields are great for preventing the edges of the pie from over-browning, and are a lot easier to use than strips of foil that always seems to fall off.
The baking beans are chalky and need to be washed and dried before using for the first time -- I did this very easily in a colander and rubbed them with a soapy sponge followed by several rinses w/clear water. Unfortunately, the container designed to hold the baking beans did not survive shipping -- it has a huge crack on one...

mister knowitall: So I like to make pies. For a few years I've been using dried beans for weights but they get progressively lighter and I decided to turn pro - go with what REAL bakers use!
Okay, not all of them use weights. Some use sugar or lentils or .... whatever. But take my advice: Buy these and look semi-pro. They're durable, reasonably heavy, transfer heat well, they're washable and they come in a nice pro-looking container.
The price is reasonable, they apparently last forever and it comes with the silicone rings. (I use them to taunt visitors and pets because I already had one.)
I went for the larger size container and will probably order another small one because it barely fills a 9 inch shell and bigger pies are always a good idea.
