Liv Wallin Andersen, Nprway: I did not dislike anything. I love the caracters and their way of life. How they look at each other the People around them.

VT: Always a delight to read about Amelia Peabody and her many adventures. Now to have so many revelations of relationships revealed. What fun their adventures. I only hope someday that Emerson gets his undisturbed tomb.

la professa: Fun and interesting read. At times it was difficult to keep track of history involved. So I stopped trying and just enjoyed the story and the character.

Salmon Queen: Thoroughly enjoyed this book, however wondering why I was charged $18.94 (excluding taxes and shipping) for a paperback book clearly marked on cover as $12.99 in Canada. Book printed in New York but shipped to me from Sweden!

ACE: Elizabeth Peters deftly weaves a tapestry of Egyptology and nail-biting wartime intrigue. Amelia, Emerson and their entire family face extreme danger in Cairo during WWl. Their foibles, courage and humanity shine brighter than ever. This book is one of the best in the series.

S F Canfield: Gosh this was all action. Intelligence activities in Egypt and its environs during WW1 with Ramses and David taking leading roles. Not so much diffing for tombs. So very glad that they all finally got to tell each other how much they cared about each other, and Ramses and Nefret are finally married. Shame Sethos died as i think his character could have been further developed. Onto Book 13...

Susan Shwartz: I think HE SHALL THUNDER...is not just one of the best in the Amelia Peabody series, but one of the best of Peters' books.
For one thing, it's one of the most intricately plotted, even for a writer who excels and exults in convoluted plots. It's satisfying and complete, winding up a number of loose ends in a way I found moving and worthwhile (and no, even after reading the reviews here and getting advance spoilers from friends in the industry, I managed with Amelia-like fortitude not to turn to the last page!)
Peters has pulled off a remarkable accomplishment. While preserving the tongue-in-cheek humor of earlier books in the series, some -from- Amelia, some aimed -at- her, Peters has given HE SHALL THUNDER... a very serious backdrop against the First World War, specifically, the Arab Revolt. I personally howled at the depictions of the Cairo Intelligence Officers, among them T.E. Lawrence, who receives shrift about as short as he was. And you see the formidable Peabody/Emerson menage arrayed against the Turks and the Germans -- some of the Turks and some of the Germans, while preserving the intellectual integrity that is important to them AND managing to excavate with a war...
