grateful shoppergrateful shopper: Arrives sealed in the manufacturer's wrap, and includes two elastic bands.
The type of closed cell foam used is not indicated in the description, however Alps Brands responded:
"The IXPE material is made of polyethylene after crosslinking and foaming. The chemical makeup is polyethylene, and there are no harmful ingredients added. (IXPE Foam, which stands for: Irradiation crosslinked polyethylene.)"
This is intended to replace the open cell foam pad included with the Kamp-Rite oversized tent cot.

Andrew haney: Cost more than expected but wanted to add a foam pad under my air pad to protect it and as a backup when I have leaks. I'm 6'4" with broad shoulders and this is the only pad i found that is wise enough for me.

David Jahnke: el tapete es bastante gruesso lo que lo hace comodo en usar, pro si ocupa mucho espacio y si quieres cambinar mucho para acampar y llevar de mas cosas, te ve estar ocupando gran espacio de tu capacidad de cargar

Customer: The material is not resistant at all. I've used this mat about 4 times, gently and only indoors, during the 10 months since I purchased it. There're quite a few rips already. Also when I received the mat, it was covered with dust all over. Very disappointed. Doesn't worth the money.

Richy C: I read a few reviews that mentioned a strong chemical odor from the mat, my mat had a slight odor but it's nothing significant. I purchased this mat to use for a 5 day camping trip, I will inside a tent at a designated spot when I sleep, It's probably too large to bring backpacking.
Pros:
Size, the XL625 fills out the bottom of most my Teton XXL Sleeping Bag nicely (minus about 5 inches on each side).
Foam, it's dense, I like its firmness.
Weight, it only weights 20 ounces
Cost, as far as I can tell this mat is the best bang for your buck camping mat on Amazon.
Cons:
Thickness. While this mat is probably thick enough to make camping on the ground more endurable ALPS has two thickness options for their mats, this mat is of the thinner variety and a thicker option is not available.
Durability, this mat would benefit from a tougher outer coating that would make it less susceptible to punctures. I will be stitching together a case for mine.
Dirt and Hair, the texture of this mat grips dirt and hair making it difficult to wipe clean. Some sort of coating that boosted durability and made it less sticky would make it much better.
When I purchased...

Craig: (Extra Large 625)So I got this in the mail a few weeks ago and overall I am very happy with it, I was a US Marine and I was used to CIF issue foam pads so when this came it was surprising the foam is made of a more softer material then the CIF issue and I feel it's durability could be a problem, I will not be backpacking with this thing uncovered for fear that a stick or anything will take a piece off of it. That being said, it is huge I have wide shoulders and I don't feel that either one will not be supported by this pad, and as mentioned before it is super soft (for a foam pad) so small rocks or bumps shouldn't be a worry coming through this thing as painful pressure points.
Again I will not be packing with this without a dutiable cover protecting it and with that I will not be laying this directly on the ground without something under it, its big so finding a good place for it on my pack is still an issue, but I am still very happy with it, a good nights sleep after a long hike is worth the minor problems I have with it.
Pros- Large and comfortable
Cons- Durability concerns/ placement issues

W. L. Ohm: I mat is very stiff. Its flexibility will increase with use. The comfort is okay. (I slept every night on a thinner mat since Feb. 1979. This is a replacement.). It appears to be constructed of good material. And I bet that
if you sleep on the ground in cold weather with this as insulation between you and the ground it would do
the job.. (The seller did a good job of getting it to me. I could have returned it. I choose not too.)
