Good for short distances at low speeds. May be good for long distances at high speeds but I haven’t tested that yet.

TN: I shopped around for my first rack on a small sedan, and chose this model. This unit works well overall.

Setting these up can be tricky. With a little ingenuity it is possible to avoid scratching your car, but otherwise I think that is a risk. I hammered some of the clips to make them a little more snug around the sheet metal on my trunk it attaches to, and then lined the spot with plastic soda bottle strips. This also avoided the clips pressing against the corner of my rear window glass, which I think would have been risky. Just hammering the two rear clips against flat pavement slowly snugs up this connection and avoided any problem.

It handled two bikes on the highway admirably, but I wouldn't take it on a cross-country trip without any worries. I think it is possible to buy a more sturdy unit but it will cost a higher price. It is adequate, though, and doesn't seem to move around too much back there.

Setting it up takes a while--set aside the time. After that, it can be done in a few minutes. Then next year you will forget and it will take a little more time once or twice. :)

Margaret: The media could not be loaded.  I purchased this product hoping it would work because I needed to take four bikes on a long distance trip. It worked better then i had hoped. i thought we would have some issues on the trip but we had no trouble. The thing i was afraid of was it damaging my car trunk because all the pressure was on the trunk, but i just put a strap from the front of the car to the last bike on the rack and tightened it enough so not all the pressure was in the trunk of my car and it worked great! we traveled almost 3,000 km and didn't have any trouble. would recommend. **in the video we don't have the strap on yet**

Cara ConnellyCara Connelly: I was very nervous when buying this product because I couldn’t tell if it would work for my car. If not tightened all the way, it is very shaky, especially on the freeway. But if you tighten is all the way, it feels incredibly secure. I could easily go over a ton of bumps and it would hold up just fine.

For reference, I have a Jeep Patriot. It is advertised to work on smaller cars, and it also worked well for mine. Very easy installation process. It can hold up to two bikes. I have a Cruiser bike, but with the flexibility this provides, we were able to fit it on well. I don’t think two Cruiser bikes would fit. Just two mountain bikes.

Doesn’t scratch my car. It did scratch the bike a little bit when not secured right, but I think that is to be expected. Overall I highly recommend.

Nat K: It securely holds two bikes and is easy to install. The adjustable arms fit various bike sizes, and the straps hold the bikes in place quite well. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because it can sometimes be a bit challenging to ensure a completely snug fit on certain car models, which might lead to slight movement during travel. Overall, it's a great value for the price and has served me well on multiple road trips.

FigureitOut!: I bought this bike rack for my 2013 Honda CRV (LX). I had gone to the Allen Sports website to verify that it would fit and it seemed like a great value and something that would work perfectly for me. I debated whether to purchase a one or two bike rack as I am the only one that rides, but I ended up opting for the two bike rack hopipng that my spouse would (at some point) become interested in riding as well. I will try to give some tips that will hopefully help you decide if this is a good fit for you, and also some tips on how to best use it:

1. Check the Allen Sports website to see if it will fit your particular vehicle. DO NOT take it at face value when reviewers on here say it DOES or DOES NOT fit a certain vehicle. They may not know how to install it, or they may be installing it incorrectly (i.e. unsafely) in order to ‘make’ it work.
2. The instructions for mounting the rack are fairly good but you really have to read them closely - ESPECIALLY when it comes to the bottom hook. The top and side hooks are fairly logical and self-explanatory… although make sure you use the correct hooks for top and side. The top hooks are bigger/wider...

Harry: I can get 2 adult bikes on the rack easy enough, after figuring out how to take it on and off.

The instructions are not easy to follow, and since I know everyone complains that cheap car bike racks suck, I wanted to make sure I put them on right. I drive a 2007 Toyota Camry, and it indeed works well on it. I have to install it with the "alternative" instructions, which involve not using my bumper (as it is just a boat load of plastic around the actual metal bumper underneath) and I secured it to the bottom of my trunk. It feels secure enough, used it about 10 times now, a few times with 1 bike, some with 2 bikes. I feel with multiple bikes it feels a bit more stable if that makes sense to anyone.

Also just be careful with how to secure the straps. Just play with them until they feel secure.

The metal bits that secure to the trunk are nice enough, but they are just painted metal, my car has some fairly soft paint (as most Japanese cars do) so I decided to put some electrical tape around the hooks. I also drive an old beat up car, but you never want to actually chip off paint, which the hooks will do if your not careful, or you tighten it a bit...
