Allen Sports Deluxe 2-Bike Car Rack for Easy Transportation of Bicycles

Matthew: I was hesitant especially since it’s much cheaper than brands found in the bike store. I’ve had it for half a year and haven’t had any issues. I’m worried about the metal scratching the paint but it hasn’t happened yet. Holds my bike and my 7 year olds mountain bike without issue. I’d say it’s not really meant for kids bikes but the way her mountain is it just fits but not on the typical bar in the middle I have to set it up to hold the angled bar of her bike. Anyways it’s weird for a kids bike but depending on style could work. Also I drive a 2017 CRV EXL if that helps anyone.

Kim: I have a Ford Fusion and this rack is about the only one that works with my car that isn’t super expensive. It is sturdy and well made. I read reviews before purchasing and a lot of them were saying to watch your fingers when assembling. They aren’t kidding. I could see how easily fingers could be pinched in a bad way.

Once assembled this rack will have to stay assembled which makes storing difficult. It was not easy to figure out where the hooks should go, I have a short trunk lid but a long back window, and a rear spoiler. I placed the 2 bottom hooks in my trunk and closed it. I put the 2 top ones between the window and the trunk edge and the 2 side hooks are basically wherever I could get them. Putting it on the car, and adding one bike to it takes about 10-15 minutes.

My bike stayed on it for the shorter drive, I haven’t taken it on a long drive. When I had 2 bikes on it a pedal hit my car so I wrapped the pedal with a towel and secured it with blue painters tape. I used what I could find in the garage. When driving the bikes were swinging back and forth (not side to side) and I know if the pedal wasn’t wrapped in some way it would have...

Bethany Leone: Tested the limits on this rack with my 50lb ebike and it held up good and have used it multiple times with the bike. The rack stayed on the car well and was super easy to set up and break down when not being used.

pleasant surprise pleasant surprise : I bought this bike rack for a trip with a total of 5 hours on the road combined not to mention the road was bumpy and the bike rack made it no issues. We initially had our doubts that something would go wrong but to our surprise, we made it. Instructions were a little complicated, yet again we’re two 20 year old females so once we pulled out a youtube video….easyyy. The rack is sturdy and easy to assemble although it was nearly impossible to not pitch a finger, it was all worth it in the end. I would absolutely recommend getting this rack, my friend also agrees.

Rob StewartRob Stewart: I was skeptical about this carrier but decided to pull the trigger for our beach trip. I read a lot of reviews and watched a couple videos prior to installation. I did end up taking another reviewers advice and wrapped the metal ends with electrical tape. This seems to give the ends more grip and they did not move at all. I also did a practice install a day ahead of time to figure out how it all works.

If you look at my photos I installed it on the back of our Buick Enclave. I did secure the bikes to the rack with a couple bungee cords just for my peace of mind. I had Velcro ties on the wheels to keep them from spinning and to keep the bike forks straight. Only issue I had was getting the mongoose bike with the rotor and routed break cabling to sit correctly in the holder. That was not an issue with the carrier but the bike design and how they routed the break lines under the center bar.

I tightened everything down, put the bikes on, tightened everything again. Rode around the block and came back and made sure everything was good. Had no issues with the unit slipping or becoming loose. Had no damage to the car. The bikes were on tight, they never...

Jean P. Labelle: Excellent product. Easy to to attach to car.
I added one bicycle and did a test drive around the neighborhood with no issues.
Then I went for a 20KM drive on the highway with twists & turns, a construction zone and plenty of bumps.
I'm happy to report that upon stopping, the rack was still securely attached with no loosening of the straps nor movement of the hooks. I did wrap the hooks with gaffers tape to prevent slippage and or scratching. The bicycle remained secure during the trip with no loosening of its straps either.
I am very happy with this economical bike rack and would highly recommend this product.

Lo: We moved across Canada with this rack and two bikes on the back of our 2004 Honda Civic. Despite our doubts, this rack held up so well! There was minimal damage to the car - none at all from the rack - it was only because we had the peddles in the wrong position and they left some scratches. I would definitely recommend the rack with 2 caveats:

1. We were pulled over in Thunderbay because the rack obstructs our license plate. I don’t believe there are any racks that don’t do this, and we were unfortunate enough to pass a cop with an agenda. Could be solved with a temporary license plate tacked onto the bikes.

2. We used duct tape to cover the metal hooks as we read reviews that they would damage the car otherwise. Worked perfectly!!

het: this is great value for money...very happy with it. Very secure and very easy to install and remove. Glad I did not fork over way more money just for a fancier name. Save some money and invest it--that is by far the smarter choice!! :)
