Thomas Reitz: From the first page to the last I was completely taken by the storyline, the characters and the poignant story that developed.
I had visited all of the places in Africa - it brought me back to amazing, magical experience.
Loved this novel!

AZSusan: I recommend this to anyone with a soul.
I love all the characters and the events in Ishi’s life are told with the care anyone would have approaching any other fine relic.

Karen Encelewski: A true story that reads like a novel, full of surprises and information. Lawrence Anthony, an African conservationist, risked his life over and over again, building bonds with an 7 member elephant herd. He then accomplished his goal of setting them free, although on their own, the elephants, led by their matriarch, would come to visit. The ending was very touching.

Bonnie J. Clark: I I have been an elephant lover for so many years. I love going to the zoo or the wildlife parks to see these most beautiful creatures. I love them so much, that I’ve even surrounded myself with them in my home… Not the real thing obviously, but beautiful pieces of sculptures, wood carvings, pictures, pillows, etc.
This is the story of Ishi whose mother and clan are murdered by African poachers for their ivory tusks. Ishi survived his first few years because he is rescued by a family who have a wild animal rescue farm in Kenya.
This novel, much to my surprise, was so very heartwarming and endearing that I am so glad I read it. It made me smile, it made me cry. What a surprise ending to the book. We knew Ishi would have to died as the novel spans over 50 years of Ishi life and those of his friend ( both animal and human). But it was most pleasantly told.
Kudos to Alex Lasker.

Mary tellett: This was my all time favourite book in many years. I have purchased it three times. One audio (beautifully narrrated) , one gift and one hard copy for my library. This book touched me deeply and it’s usually within my reach because sometimes I just want to read a chapter of two again.

It’s very interesting to read it from an Elephants perspective. It really makes you think.
Lately I’ve been fascinated with Elephants and following a few groups. One being Sheldrick Trust.
Well done!

Kindle Customer: What a wonderful book! It warmed my heart. There were hard times too but the author dealt with them respectfully for men and beast and I was sad for both.
I was also horrified at the cruelty some human can display without remorse nor feelings. And yet others can have such compassion and understanding.
This book will stay with me for a long while and I highly recommend it!
