Graeme Wright: Interesting ready but dunno if i would use toth cards as a go too… crowley didn’t exactly dabble with savory forces

Barbara Fendt: Very detailed and supportive of its matching deck.

Richard M.: I already have an older copy of this book for me personally. And i bought this one (or newer edition of Book of Thoth) as a present for a friend.

EsoTarot Da Cane: Now, I will warn you it is like Crowley speaks an entirely different language, however what he does have to say is quite enlightening and adds to the dimension and depth of your perception for each card if nothing more…definitely a good addition to your library. The cards seem to be gone over in three different sections so do go through the whole book while searching for answers. I also used The Crowley Tarot The Handbook to The Cards by Akron & Hannover Banzhaf that was done specifically for the Crowley Tarot which was, I believe, very necessary & also a great addition for the study of the Thoth deck.

DREAMOVDEATH: For anyone delving into the tarot for the first time, or for anyone curious about the personally held beliefs ov one of times greatest shamen. A must have for any occult enthusiast.

Marc: This was a really transformative experience for me. I view this book more as a piece of art. It gives you a very strong notion of the fundamental principles of our universe and the structure of the Qabalah and the Tarot helps out tremendously. It is not an exploration of the defined, but of that potential from which all things arise. Thus the book expresses the truth-seeking nature of human beings, though, of course, we all seek it in our own way. As the Egyptians taught, only what is known in the heart, what has been assimilated into a strong notion, can be carried over to the next life. Crowley is a master of forming such notions in the mind of the reader. Enjoy!

Lane Fox: I think there is no better authority on the Thoth deck than Crowley himself. I think this is a great guide to the ratonale and structure of the deck and a bit of a "behind the scenes" into the development that is (in my opinion) the best deck to use regarding Hermetic based concepts. While some may not like Crowley's writing style, I think this source book is great as a reference work if you want to read material that isn't so "old timey".

As for the version that arrived ...I love it. I picked mine up used from a seller and I love older "loved" editions. Definitely has the character I look for on my shelf.

Paul Clermont: Only 30 pages in, but I'm 5-starring it now. I'll probably do a complete review later on.
Crowley presents a wealth of unique knowledge about the Tarot (and naturally, this is intertwined with talk of Qabalah & astrology).

[Update: August 02, 2019]
After the enlightening introductory material, Crowley gives descriptions of all the symbolism in each of the 22 Atu cards. Starting with #0 the Fool card, I was worried about the pace of the book because he provides an exorbitant amount of folk parables to which the Fool’s symbolism corresponds; I found this tedious for my purposes, but it’s all still esoteric interesting info, and this may be fine depending on the reader.

Thankfully it does not continue that way, and the rest of the Atu descriptions are relatively short and concise.
I’m glad to learn the actual reasoning behind what's going on in each card, seeing that there's a logical ‘scientific’ design behind each card. This book is definitely something you want to read if you plan on working with tarot to do readings, or even just for self-study.

Similarly, Part 3 describes the significance & meanings all the Court cards, and Part 4...

Thistle Brown: This is an excellent source for the background of the Tarot and numerous subjects related. As well, I was taken with the style of the writing which gave it an extra fillip. Having read DuQuette and quite a number of other books on this subject, it added some of what DuQuette didn't have room for. Not taking away from 5 stars, I did wonder why it had card illustrations, particularly when they were in black and white - a minor cavill (excuse the redundancy).

What I got a huge charge from was finding a stem of cannabis pressed between pages a little to right of center. How did I know what it was? I lived amongst smugglers for five years and I saw an occational "mistake" popping above the ground.

A few years ago one of my daughters and her husband helped me move and found a bag of "grass" pushed into a corner on a closet shelf. They appeared, looking sheepish. They explained, rather gasping while I laughed and said, "It's catnip, you idiots!" Well... gee... they did wonder. I'm still laughing.
