I bought this from my parents. Then one day they came downstairs and saw that the alarm was going off on this thing and there was a high number. They realized they had left the gas on the kitchen stove overnight. They left the house and it aired out and they were safe but this was definitely a potential lifesaver.

I ordered this bc I kept smelling a faint hint of gas, so I plugged in near the source where I smelt the smell, and we found out we did have a small leak, and it DID NOT beep or anything to give us a warming

Bought two of these — one for near the propane furnace and one for the propane cook range. Both would randomly beep and go into alert at different times and totally freaked us out and caused us to shut down the propane. The fuel company came and found no leaks. These are not reliable. Paid $40 and they are now in the trash.

I bought this for our propane range. It does work when there is a gas leak. But it started going off sporadically to the point I disconnected the outside tank for a couple of days looking for the leak. It kept going off even after lines had been purged for 48 hours.

Cannot recommend enough. We were out of town for a long weekend, when we returned home our gas detector was beeping loudly. We went to check and it showed a gas level of “3” (out of 9). We called the gas company, who came to to check for a gas leak. Sure enough, they found a leak in our basement!

I have one near every gas appliance. The only negative is no battery backup for power outages, so if you had a leak then you wouldn't have any warning. But as long as the power is on, they work fine. Easy to read display. Alarm would wake the dead.
