Kris Jean: I got this to make cupcakes for a friends birthday. She requested rose cupcakes (rosettes) that were sparkly. She wanted something really beautiful and classy but not over the top. After doing some research and looking at reviews, I bought this. The gold dust was perfect and beautiful. Very fine grain if you compare it to something like glitter. After putting the rosette frosting on the cupcakes, I just put some of this lustre dust on my hand and gently blew it onto the cupcakes. It fell beautifully and gave the perfect amount of sheen. The birthday girl couldn't stop talking about how beautiful her cupcakes were and there was no compromise in taste or texture. No grittiness, no difference in taste, this was really great stuff. Also, the 2 grams lasted a really long time. Highly recommend!

Casey W.: The media could not be loaded.  (I'm trying to review every product I've bought and used, in order to pay it forward to everyone who's provided such helpful comments and ratings. Some reviews are easier than others)

I'm not a baker by any means; I just love to buy this stuff and put it in my drinks so I can feel like a nifty wizard. For that purpose, this stuff is great. A little bit goes a long way, so you only need to buy a little package, and you can't taste or feel any of it . . . assuming you don't make a very bad mistake and spill a third of the container into your tea, at which point it will develop an unpleasant milky-gritty texture (though it still won't taste like anything, which is nice). The attached video is an excellent example of TOO MUCH LUSTER DUST in a drink, but if you take a flat stirrer or the handle of a spoon/fork, scoop out a little bit of dust -- less than a pea-sized amount! -- and dump it into your beverage of choice, it will be sparkly and exciting. Just make sure you stir it regularly, or it'll all settle at the bottom and a) not look as cool, and b) you'll get that weird milky residue in your last few sips, which is a bad time.

BreAnnaBreAnna: When this first arrived i was extremely disappointed in the color. I usually use sunflower brand gold highlighter which as you can see from the photos is more of a true gold (pre application) and the pharaoh looked more golden- mustard. However after applying both to fondant the post application color was not that different. Pharaoh brand clumped during application and had an odd chalky texture in comparison. I used a paintbrush to apply both and if you look closely you can see brush strokes in the pharaoh brand but not sunflower. In all nothing that can't be corrected quite easily but i'll be sticking with sunflower.

MyHobby: I bought this with a little caution, after reading the reviews. We wanted to make a geode cake. The cake calls for rock candy and edible gold surrounding the opening where the "rocks" go. This came on time and it is quite small to look at. But a little goes a long way! We don't use fondant so, we needed something that would work with butter cream. We put the "rocks" on the front of the cake and use a medium sized round paint brush to put the dust around the opening. It worked so well! It is so pretty and you don't need very much. I still have half a jar left. I even sprinkled some of the dust on the top of the cake to give it some shimmer. And we used this dust to color the three rock candy lollipops that were placed on top of the cake. I am happy with this purchase and will use again if I ever need gold dust again. I just used it dry - right from the can onto the brush - then onto the cake. It will make a mess! So be prepared to clean afterwards.

Xerellise: This dust comes in a small container, a lot smaller than I expected. It works very well for powdering desserts gold depending on the color of the item you're dusting. I used a small brand new makeup brush that I had on hand to powder a dozen or so white chocolate roses for wedding cupcakes and they turned out beautiful, though it had more of a copper gold tint to it. The thing is, it works so much better on regular brown colored chocolate and I found that out too late. Using regular brown chocolate would of saved me a lot of time from all that powdering, would of given the roses a more realistic gold look and I also would of used less of the lustre dust. I also used it on some white fondant butterflies and flowers, gives it a beautiful copper gold touch and made everything look professionally made. This dust works best on darker colors unless you don't mind a copper gold looking presentation. I am overall happy with the results though and would purchase this item again if I ran out.
