N. Seliga: We are wood stove first timers, so we weren't sure how well it would heat upstairs too. We ended up putting a vent in the family room floor and putting in this fan. We can put the cover/vent register right over it and the cord is plenty long to reach an electrical outlet. The switch is on the cord and turns on and off easily.
The fan is exceptionally quiet and I have to put my ear to the vent or my foot over the vent to see if I can feel the air to see if it is on.
We had a power outage and when it returned, the fan did not come back on automatically. I like this feature because if we were not at home, it would just keep running whether we wanted it to or not.
It draws up plenty if heat from below, just like we wanted it to do.
Once we put in another vent in another section of the house, we will install another one.

CVH: It is fine and does distribute heat from the wood stove downstairs up to the upper mail floor. The air upstairs flows down so this forces warn wood stove heat up . The only thing I do not like are the cheaper screws and nuts that is packages for the fittings on the front and back screen shields.. Too thin and too tiny .. I replaced an older 10 yrs older one with the same design so did not have to use the wall mount screws the new one provided.. The fan is quiet and remember to clean blades often so over time they do not stick and not turn..

Daniel J Redd: Replaced the old corner style fan with this one. We use it to move heat from one room to the next. This is not pretty but it's small, powerful and super quiet! We used to have to crank up the TV to hear over the old corner fan (the one that looks like a pie shape) but this one we can't even tell if it is on. I didn't put on the bright silver grates (not attached in shipping) just because I didn't like the way it looked. When the fan is on it will nip your finger pretty good. But since it is up high in the corner of my door, no one messes with it. Maybe one day I'll spray paint them black and finally attach them. I do like that I can now get to the blades to wipe them down. I also love that it swivels (wasn't sure I needed it but I found out it is really helpful in directing heat). This fan moves heat much much more effectively. The power cord is very long and I like the thumb switch being on the cord. It doesn't sit flush to the door frame (at least I couldn't get it to) so while it is small, it does stick out a little bit.
All in all, I wish I had bought this years ago. Not pretty but much better than the old pie shaped one. Quieter and more...

All About Meow: This little fan moves more air than you'd think! I was very pleasantly surprised. After purchasing a set of these AV cabinet fans  AC Infinity AIRPLATE S3, Quiet Cooling Fan System 6" with Speed Control, for Home Theater AV Cabinets  hoping they could be used as room-to-room fans with our new mini split system, I found out I was horribly mistaken. They are worthless if you're trying to move more air than a small cabinet would hold. The hunt was still on for a small, room-to-room fan that could be installed without cutting a hole in the wall. Enter the Minuteman Doorway Fan. When I first took it out of the box, I was underwhelmed; after all, it's even smaller than the AV cabinet fans. But I went ahead and plugged it in and was kind of blown away (haha) by how much air it moves! And it's quiet - not as silent as the AV cabinet fans but maybe about as much as the one in a computer. Construction is solid metal, heavy, and I expect it should last a good long while - we shall see, as this fan is now on the clock and running 24/7. I hope to post a happy update a couple years down the road!

Dave McGhee: I have a ventless gas heater in a back room of my garage which heats the back room where my laundry and wash basin is located. I have to heat the garage due to pipes and a home woodshop. I typically keep the temperature at around 50 degrees in the winter, however the heat gathers in the ceiling of the back room and the front of the garage hovers around the 38 degree mark during the winter. My solution is to place a box fan to circulate the air. This is not ideal or efficient. So I bought on of those corner fans from HD that are placed in the doorway, the one shaped like a bloated triangle. That fan was so loud I couldn't stand to work in the shop with it on. So I took it back after 2 days.

Searching for a quieter solution I found this little treasure. It comes in 4 pieces. You have to install the fan guards and the mounting bracket. It's a very simple instal and with the 10 foot cord I could place it exactly where I needed it. When I turned it on I aw amazed at how quiet it was. Very quiet. I have it mounted on the outside of the entry way so that I can swivel it into the doorway in the winter and out of the doorway in the summer. So far with...
