Timothy Parker: My last food scale was still working but one of the mechanical buttons was difficult to activate, making it continually frustrating. So, time for another. I chose this one because 1) touch sensitive non-mechanical switches, 2) flat top easy to wipe clean, 3) powered by replaceable batteries (didn't want a rechargeable, non-replaceable battery version that I would have to throw away after a few years), and 4) a really attractive price. The switches work every bit as good as I could have hoped. I'm not sure just how accurate it is, but measurements seem reasonable, and it is just for general portion control. If I needed exact measurements, I'd get a balance scale, but this isn't for chemistry. The top is entirely smooth and impervious (glass?), so the top is easy to clean, though it isn't meant for submersion. You don't want water getting to the electronics. The only improvement I would suggest is to give the switches a little more contrast to make them more easily readable, but there are only three, so it is easy to remember their function after a bit of use.
