I cannot appreciate enough how much Nivedita is both a scientist committed to helping poor countries with science and at same time sharing beautiful insight with all of us.

Sunny: First and foremost, I am floored by reading the books written by Dr. Nivedia Lakhera. They are not only inspirational but one of the finest reads that have taken my breath away. From the personalization in the poems to the artwork that coincides along with the sentiment touches you in more than you can imagine. Subsequent to me reading I offered them to my family, my parents, and kids specifically, and seeing their reactions was priceless. I personally, read a lot of books, but in my reads I have yet to encounter something so genuine with such a personal touch. I am grateful to Dr. Lakhera, to have provided such an enlightenment and perspective. My recommendation is that one should read such exemplary piece of work at least once in their life, if not repeatedly from time to time, to get inspiration that life is more than me and us. It is about others and how we think. It surely has changed mine and my family’s perspective. Great work Dr. Lakhera, I am not only thankful but am also obliged that I came across your books. I surely will be recommending them to my friends and look forward to you other books. In fact, I am going to be ordering a few for my friends, as I have done for...

Anonymous: The poetry in this book is truly deep and touches the soul!!! Dr. Lakhera often says that when you are vulnerable you give someone else permission to be so too. She empowers young women to think beyond societal expectations of what they are "supposed to be like" to understand their body and soul are truly theirs and her poems are all about how we can set ourselves free only when we become one with our deepest pain, fears, and desires. With each poem is a beautiful drawing that is abstract yet not abstract. They are powerful drawings which tell a much deeper more thought provoking message to women and to the readers, whether its a mermaid jumping out of a fish bowl into the open sea drawn in such a way that that water drops look like tears flowing from a face with two small fish as the eyes of the face -- implying the message "born to be wild and free" or whether its a war scene happening under the skin indicating our internal battle. This is the sort of deep message her poems and her art work depict. I'm proud to hear my former alumna -- wayne state university-- will be teaching to her book on their main campus in the fall. I believe more universities and schools should teach to...

Professor Eric Montgomery (Michigan State University)Professor Eric Montgomery (Michigan State University): As an anthropologist and professor for 20 years, I have noticed an uptick in anxiety, depression, and self-doubt-- in even some of my most promising students. This masterpiece is not only the best contemporary poetry book that I have read, but its a literal blueprint for healing. Rumi is above the clouds smiling at his golden child. Dr. Niv is indeed a fairy tale, is a majestic tour de force whose magical way of seeing and being in the world has inspired me deeply. Her odes to Trayvon Martin, Serena Williams, and those who perished unnecessarily from depression and abuse-- brought tears to me eyes. While submissions such as "Defiance," "Forgive, it leads to Freedom," "It's not a Race," and "A Too Much Woman," were epiphanies of hope reminding me that I can do better, I must do better. Nivedita is that rare person who has found her purpose, she floats in that sacred space between doing what she's good at, what she loves, and what the world needs. I absolutely could not put this book down, I read it twice on day one. I will carry it with me just like I do my water, book bag, or umbrella-- it is both inspirational and utilitarian. Her 16 steps at the end of the book are a template...
