S P: “The New Father: A Dad's Guide to the First Year" has been an absolute lifeline for me during this incredible and sometimes overwhelming journey into fatherhood. This book is not just a guide; it's a supportive friend, a trusted advisor, and a wellspring of wisdom for any new dad.
From the very first page, I felt a sense of camaraderie with the author. The book is written in a warm and relatable tone that instantly puts you at ease, reassuring you that you're not alone in the whirlwind of emotions and experiences that come with being a new dad. The author's insights are invaluable, covering everything from the practical aspects of diaper changing and soothing techniques to the emotional complexities of bonding with your newborn.
What truly sets this book apart is its comprehensive approach. It doesn't just focus on the baby; it also addresses the changes a new father goes through personally, as well as the dynamics in his relationship with his partner. The author's ability to provide practical advice while also acknowledging the emotional journey is truly commendable.
Each chapter is a treasure trove of information, peppered with anecdotes from real dads...

donna: I bought this for my son, along with a pregnancy book for my daughter in law. So much is focused on the future moms, this is great for the future dad to read. I thought he would appreciate having a book to explain things to the dad, since the pregnancy course can be so foreign to guys. He really appreciated it and it turns out they read their books together. They joke that they’re going to test each other. Great gift for the first time day as he and my daughter in law wait for their special day.

Jessica LJessica L: Broken down into weeks with easily understood language. It contains a bunch of important information like how to take care of the umbilical cord and tips for changing diapers. This is great for new dads that are nervous and gives them peace of mind. This books also brings a great perspective to what is going on emotionally and physically with the new dad as well as their partner. It brings up the unexpected to make you feel prepared and knowledgeable about what could go wrong. I bought this used and it came in GREAT condition and came faster than what I expected. 10/10 would definitely recommend!

Amy Barnes: I was looking for a legitimate book that isn't just a bunk of jokes for my partner. It's hard to find quality parenting books aimed at father's but this one is great. It's my #1 recommendation for new dad's. He ended up getting the audio book also and really enjoyed that.

Peter D.: I read along to the month as my son goes through his first year without skipping ahead. It's important to note that the milestones that he starts off with are not absolutes (though my son is reaching these), so if your child is on their way to this goal, met it already, or has not (as in not yet started teething, things like that), then you don't necessarily have a cause for concern. This is important to know, considering the message boards and websites that set absolutes, worry-mongering, and personal judgement over your individual child.
There are 1-2 topics per chapter, which may or may not be relevant to your situation, or it's something you have already done. I skip these about 25% of the time for either of those reasons, but don't feel it was a waste of my $, it's still useful information if it is needed. some topics include planned childcare, if you already have a child, emotional connections/jealousy.
I won't be keeping this after he is a year old, rather have a friend to give it away to - they will definitely get good use out of this as well.

Amazon Customer: "The Expectant Father" is hands down the best book out there for first time fathers. I've read many books for first time fathers and no book even came close to how well written this book is. The way the books was set up made it easy to read and follow. The university and medical study's as well as the researched backed facts were my favorite. The content wasn't based solely on someones personal opinion, which other books were. I also bought the follow up book "The New Father" and it was just as good. My second favorite book was "From Dude to Dad".

Ian: Really nice to have a book from a dad's perspective.

Android Freud: An absolutely incredibly book, extremely well written in clear concise English and unlike many books on the subject of babies, doesn't keep repeating the same points in different ways to fill up the pages in the book (like the extremely popular "Happiest Baby on the Block" book which I also bought and found to give some good information but repeats the same point over and over again on the 5 S's
The New Father however, is an excellent insightful read and really changed how I look at becoming a new parent. I was inspired after reading their other "The expectant father" which really prepped me, more than taking care of myself or becoming a Dad, but more importantly have great info for the absolute necessity to be a pillar of strength for your partner in a very challenging, new, exciting change of you're becoming a Dad for the first time. Well worth it & nicely edited!

TwirlerMcMaster: This is a great read for dad and for mom. If dad is not a reader, just be aware, it may only be a read for mom. But still worth the purchase. Written in very plain simple speak.

Mario Alzugray: My baby is due is not due for another 5 months, but I started reading this book after it arrived and I have had a hard time putting it down. On top of acting as a sort of "guide", it's chock-full of interesting facts!
