I used this to put 4 constant tension spring clamps on 2 heater hoses in very tight positions again the firewall and connecting to the waterpipe and thermostat ports sitting underneath the throttle body and intercooler piping. It worked out great. I got the job done fairly quickly and I cant honestly say that I dont know how I wouldve done it without this tool due to the lack of room. The only limitation that youre really bound by is the length of the end piece that compresses the ears on the springs but I was able to maneuver it into a position that would also make it fairly easy and straight forward to remove it in the future.
It is a little awkward to use at first when your trying to line up the end piece to the length between the 2 ears of the spring, and then squeezing a bit to pull the release lever when you have the spring in place. I would agree with others that the tool doesnt seem to be the best quality, so i was fairly easy on it, but it worked well enough to get the job done and still works!

Edit: it's been a couple years now and this thing has held up better than I ever imagined. It doesn't get used daily but with a VW obsessed house like we have, it's gotten used a couple dozen times. I'm not exaggerating when I say that every time I pull this tool out, and use it to grab a stubborn hose clamp, I smile wide and proclaim "I love this f*ing thing!" Buy one buy one now
Low priced and fast shipping allowed me to get underneath my intake manifold to chance a vacuum line on my Jetta. The locking action was easy to use and the handles were comfortable. However the cable was a little difficult to maneuver so the the clamps would catch the tabs of the hose clamp rather than crush the hose itself.
If you know what you're getting into this tool may be just the trick to get you out of a pinch
