Ontario Canada Client ReviewOntario Canada Client Review: I was torn with spending more choosing the more expensive insulated one, kinda wishing I did. In order to fit my door I took the piece off that adjusts for different heights then it fit perfectly. Literally takeoff 2 screws. There’s a draft around the door so I may try silicone on both sides and I’m going to purchase a 2nd flap as it suggests to help with draft. It does only come with one weather strip. You most definitely need 2. Th hardware that a sliding patio door uses that’s on the inside of the door frame stops it from having a tight fit so for now I put bath insulation in to stop the draft on that side. It’s way better then a swinging door in a screen with the whole thing open. After insulating where the door meets it putting a stick to push the door against it, siliconed around the frame of where the plastic is and adding insulation along glass from top to bottom and a piece to stop wind from coming through between doors I have successfully stopped the drafts. So far it has gotten as low as -7 and it was still warm in my livingroom. I did leave an updated pic of end result.

Tracie: We purchased this to use with our vinyl sliding door and we have really loved it. This fits our door frame well height-wise and I was super happy about the draft stoppers that came with it--they work finominally and really cut down on the air draft. This is more drafty on windy days, even with the door flap having a magnet close, decent wind strength can override it and cause a lot of draft to blow in. This is not double-paned so it isn't very efficient with keeping cold out. We went and bought a thicker foam to press in around the frame to help decrease draft and air leakage. The door lock came with it, but we opted to not use it, we just cut a pvc pipe to fit in the track to lock it. I am super happy with the hard door cover, it locks into place and also helps keep air draft out.
Overall super happy with it, with some modifications we made it work for us. It sure was a better option than cutting a hole in the wall and I love that I can remove it easily at anytime!!

Max Daddee: I saw pet doors for sliding glass doors and prices up to $1,000. Some advertised dual pane glass as how much cold air comes through these things can be a concern.

I chose this door as I wasn't sure the value was there for anything more expensive. It was easy to install with the exception of it being a really tight fit to get it standing upright inside the sliding door track. The house I bought had a lot of things put in it by someone with no construction trades experience. So the challenge getting the door up could be from the previous owner not having installed the door properly in the first place. But, with a little help from a rubber mallet, I got the door up.

It does require a lot of additional weather stripping besides what they give you with the door. And some creativity with it.

About getting your petsto use the door, I had read one reviewer had cut the door flap in half, removing the bottom half completely. They were going to buy another door later after their pets adapted to it. You don't need to do that because you can just unscrew the door and substitute a more lightweight piece of vinyl or plastic. Ramil: I had to modify it to fit it to my door, but very pleased with it. Strong winds cause the flap to open but that can be remedied easily.
