WM: We needed a timer for our bathroom exhaust fan but a digital switch would not work on this particular circuit because of the way the fan was wired. The mechanical timer does not have that problem and it works great.

Phillip H: It was easy to install and works great. The knob and face plate have a slightly more blueish tint to them than other white switches I've purchased though, making it not quite match the other switches. There's an audible mechanical timing ticking while it's counting down, but it's much quieter than either our bathroom fan or the shower.

Robert T: I installed this timer to control a gas fireplace.
I liked this countdown timer over many competitors because you can manually turn it off. Some mechanical countdown timers, such as the Intermatic brand, don't allow you to rotate the dial counter-clockwise to manually turn off the timer. You are forced to wait for it to count down.
But unfortunately after just one day, I noticed the fireplace was not switching off and the timer was no longer ticking. So back it went to Amazon.
As an added note, I did find a superior way to control the gas fireplace.
1. Added and Alexa-controlled smart plug to the electrical outlet under the fireplace. Easy.
2. Plugged a 5V USB power adapter into the smart plug. Easy.
3. Plugged a short USB cable into the power adapter. Easy.
4. Ran the USB cable to a little, custom circuit board with a 5V-coil relay. A little bit of work, but you can probably find an off-the-shelf relay board on Amazon.
5. Use the relay output to turn on/off the fireplace.
Now I can say, "Alexa, turn on the fireplace for one hour." Works beautifully.

Daniel B.Daniel B.: Our previous timer knob broke on 3 different timers in our house because the plastic was cheap. I tried an electronic timer, but it didn’t work because their wasn’t enough current in my outlets so I had to find a mechanical timer.
After looking around and seeing nobody commenting on the durability of the knob itself, I took a chance on BN-LINK heavy duty timer. Installation was a breeze (if you can change a light switch, you can do this), the timer has a satisfying twist, the clicking when it is counting down is noticeable (for better or worse depending on your preference), but best of all- the knob seems to be made of a durable plastic with a deep well for the metal bar that connects to the unit itself. It has only been a few days, but I think the knob won’t be breaking anytime soon. If I have any issues, I will come back and update this review.
