Noel guillemetteNoel guillemette: I made this myself I taped four of the filters together and just placed a fan on top of it. The filters themselves work really good for getting out stale air. My roommate does not smoke and I do but this cleans up the air great easy to make and the filters work great best value I found on these filters how long they last I hope to get six months, so will let you know then.

Peter: This filter has the highest MERV rating possible
And it does exactly that; it filters out everything.
I live in an area that got hit by substantial forest fires, these filters filtered out all the smoke
At times that I couldn’t see the other side of our street.
Mind you with that amount of particles , the live of this filter was two weeks, but comfortable two weeks.
Pollen in spring are also no issue for this filter.

R.: Solid, quality construction. Air smells fresh.
But it may be restricting the airflow too much because I get the warning that the filter needs changing more often on the thermostat. Maybe MERV 12 is putting a strain on the furnace. Don't know.
I think that I would prefer a MERV 10 or 11 filter with carbon. I wish that had been an option.

Pippa A. Cossette: This was not my first time ordering Nordic Pure filters for my HVAC system. I LIKE the product and have used them many times on different systems in my homes. Previously, the filters I have purchased were individually shrink-wrapped along with a "cover" sheet that identifies them as "Nordic Pure" AND displays the size of the filters and, most importantly, the MERV rating. This time, I received a shipping box that was imprinted with the Nordic Pure logo (marking), but the box had (clearly) been opened and then re-sealed. Inside were six filters (as I had ordered) but all of them were UNWRAPPED and without ANY markings on the filter except a directional arrow to indicate which way to place them (for air flow) and the size of the filter. NO Nordic Pure logo, and more importantly, NO "MERV" rating, which, while it does not usually appear ON the filters themselves, ALWAYS appears on the wrapping that encases EACH filter. I went back to the shipping box to see whether there was ANYTHING on the main box itself to indicate what type of filter was inside and the ONLY evidence was on the shipping label itself (the label that was created for the shipper with my name and address -- on this...

1) 3M Filtrete Micro Allergen Reduction Filters, 20x25x1 1000 MPR, 6-pack, $70.49
2) Nordic Pure 20x25x1 AC Furnace Air Filters MERV 12, Box of 6 (This product), $58.20

In order to compare these products, I collected the following info for myself and for others that read my reviews:

MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value. It is a number from a test method designed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). The number is intended to help people compare filters. Generally speaking, a higher MERV rating indicates better filter performance. Filters with a merv rating of 9 to 12 are used in commercial and industrial applications and will stop particles in the 1 to 3 micron range. These filters are a great choice for home owners who want the best dust control possible.

1000 MPR is equivalent to MERV 11. 1000 MPR Performance Rating captures:
1) Airborne micro particles, including smoke.
2) Airborne allergens, including pollen, pet dander, mold...
