OnlyOneOnlyOne: I grew up with my Grandparents, who formerly showed St. Bernards; one thing that they impressed upon me as a dog owner is to always have a quality leather leash! According to my Grandmother, they only get better with age and are much easier to grasp and control than a chain or nylon leash. So I seven years ago I purchased this exact leather leash for our first dog (20# Cur). I haven't been disappointed! I've walked her in rain, snow, and sun...she's been wading in water and the leash has been drenched, and it is still pliable and sturdy, without any additional maintenance from me. So when we started training our newest family member, I searched my Amazon list to find THIS leash to purchase again. What I received was the same leash, minus about 1.5 inches, just a little darker in color. It is still the same great quality workmanship in stitching and riveting. My old leash has never had failure with the latch, and the new leash seems to be the same rugged quality. I look forward to many years of use.
